My thumb rubbed aimlessly up and down his palm, soothing the tensing muscles. He squeezed tighter, his nervousness clear.
"Caspar, babe, it'll be fine. I promise." I reassured him. His face looked doubtful, worry etched over every inch.
Our steps were in time as we walked along the pavement, his scruffy white Converse contrasting with my neat, dark purple Vans.
"I know it's just...what if they don't like me?" he asked, his voice quiet. I stopped, his hand pulling on mine, halting him too.
"Come on, we'll be late!" he urged, tugging my hand. But I remained where I stood looking him straight in the eye.
"I don't care. Caspar listen to me. They're my parents. If I love you, then they will." I took a step closer, my free hand moving up to caress his cheek. "And I really do love you."
I leant forward, pressing a reassuring kiss to his pouting lips. We stayed like this until I felt his muscles relax slightly. Pulling away, my face remained close to his, close enough that I could feel his warm breath panting on my lips. He'd been nervous about this visit for a few weeks now, ever since I'd told him about my parents inviting us to dinner at theirs. I guess I was close to my parents, but ever since I moved away to Uni, I didn't see them as much.
"Come on, we're going to be late." I winked pulling his hand and continuing walking. He chuckled before following along, his hand remaining tightly clutched in mine. He began to swing our arms between us, a habit I'd noticed when he got nervous. I giggled giving him a reassuring squeeze and turning the corner down my parents street.
"Here we are." I stopped in front of my parent's front door.
"Woah." he looked up in awe at the building in front of us. "This is where you grew up?"
"Mmhmm." I nodded.
"Wow...I suddenly feel under dresed." he stated, looking down at his clothes.
The building was rather fancy, three storeys high. The front door was that of which you would see on
"Don't be stupid." I laughed, his jeans and button up shirt looking fine to me. I pulled him up the front steps, my hand reaching out to ring the doorbell. Caspar's breath hitched in his throat as the door opened.
"Mum!" I smiled, letting go of Caspar and embracing my mother.
"Jennie, dear! How are you?" she asked, squeezing me just as tight.
"Fine thanks. Mum, this is Caspar. Caspar, this is my mother." I smiled, removing myself from my mother and waving my hand in between them.
"It's nice to meet you ma'am." he spoke politely, sticking his hand out for her to shake. My mother scoffed.
"Don't be stupid." she laughed, pulling him in for a hug. "And call me Alison!"
She tugged us both inside, Caspar's eyes widening at the size of the house.
"Simon, dear. Jennie and her boyfriend are here!" my mother called out, her heels clicking against the hardwood floors. Soon after, my father emerged from the kitchen, an excited look on his face.
"Daddy!" I squealed, running over to hug him. I'd always been a daddy's girl and I was proud to admit that.
"Hello Princess." he smiled, kissing my hair softly.
"Daddy this is..."
"Caspar Lee. I know." he cut me off. Caspar momentarily froze, my father's common icyness coming across. I forgot to warn him about that. My dad tends to be rather over protective when it comes to boys.
"It's er," he coughed awkwardly, "It's lovely to meet you sir." Caspar stuck his hand out, just as he had done with my mother, but this time my father accepted the handshake, a hard stare aimed at Caspar.
Dinner ran pretty smoothly, my father appointing a few ridiculous questions towards Caspar. But soon, my mother stood to wash the dishes, Caspar offering to help. They both left the dining room leaving my sat opposite my dad.
"So.." I began.
"I like him." he stated.
"What?" I asked, my smile bright. "You do?"
"Yes. But, remember, if he hurts you...."
"I know, I know. You'll hurt him twice as much," I laughed, repeating my father's mantra.
"That's right." he smiled.
"I hate to butt in, but I promise, I would never dream of hurting your daughter sir. I love her with all my heart." Caspar came walking in, his hand squeezing my shoulder.
"Call me Simon." my Dad's ice had melted and Caspar was now welcomed into the family. "I can tell you're a great lad, and I'm sure my daughter loves you too."
My eyes were glued to Caspar, a look of adoration taking over my face.
"I do. I really do." I smiled.

I obviously don't know what your parent's names are, but I hope you liked it! :3
