Year: 1996

Your age: 16

Lin's age: 16

You snuggled closer to the boy beside you, the bright stars illuminating his dark brown eyes, and the soft gusts of spring wind ruffling his hair.

The two of you were sitting on the hood of his truck, which was a dark bronzish-gold, your favorite color. Maybe because it reminded you of him. The truck was parked on a grassy field amongst a sea of other cars, and Jurassic park, your current favorite movie, played on the big screen in front of you.

Drive-thru movies had always been your and Lin's prefered date spot, although neither of you were quite sure why. Maybe it had something to do with the relaxed atmosphere, how no one expected anything from you while you were here. It was different from the regular movies. Here you could sit with your legs swung out in front of you, or just lie on the grass. You could whisper without getting yelled at, and kiss without recieving annoyed stares.

Or maybe it was because of the love that vibrated through the air. It was a given that more than half the people here were like you and Lin. Young, free, wild, in love. You both knew it was a cliché. You knew it was cheesy, eye-roll worthy even, but to be honest you didn't really care. It made it a little more exciting for you, and others a little more jealous.

The credits rolled onto the screen, but you were to absorbed in Lin's smell to notice right away. He smelled safe, and a little like pine-scented cologne. Neither you or Lin wanted to move. So you didn't. You were happy. You stayed, wrapped in each other's arms past one in the morning, till Lin's truck was the only car parked in that huge grassy feild.

You couldn't imagine a life without this man, nor a life more perfect. Nothing bad could happen as long as Lin was around. Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Finally he turned to you and tucked a strand of red hair behind you ear, kissing you gently. "We should go, my love." He whispered softly in your ear. Your heart fluttered as those two words rolled off his tongue oh so smoothly. "You parents will legitimately accuse me of kidnapping you if you aren't home when they wake up," he chuckled, "although they wouldn't be fully wrong." You smiled up at him. You would be okay with him kidnapping you anytime

"Fine..." you sighed dramatically, and slid off the hood of his truck, and into the passenger seat. You smiled again, content as you rested your head against the cool window, glancing up at the sky, the soft rumbling of the engine lulling you to sleep as you drove home.

-----------------------------------

You woke up to Lin's lips pressed against your forehead. "Your home, my love." He murmured. You yawned in response and sleepily climbed out of the truck.

"Mmm", you hummed softly as you leaned towards him, "I love you." You pressed you lips against his, with a warm passion you save only for Lin.

"I love you more," He says with a confidence he saves only for you, "Always."

"That's why I'm so helpless!" You laughed as you reluctantly pulled away from Lin and begin climbing up the tall willow tree that lead to your room. He smiled at you, shaking his head lightly with amusement.

"See you tommorow, my love," Lin called up to you, "Don't forget, the annual fair is after school!" You grinned.

"I could never you called back, and disappeared into your room.

You flopped happily onto your bed, listening to the purr of Lin's truck as he drove away. You couldn't wait for the fair. You and him had gone every year since you were kids, although only as a couple for the first time two years ago. Your parents were close, and the two of you had grown up together. That was probably part of the reason you couldn't imagine a life without him. You knew you wouldn't ever have to life that kind of life, though. Both of you had been accepted, early admission, to the Boston University school of Drama. So you would go together, after this last year of the hell called high school. Graduate together, get married as soon as you did... You would write and star in(because that's just the kind of people you were) an award winning musical... something original... something no one else could even think of. You and Lin. Together. You sighed dreamily and closed your eyes.

Oh, but if only you had known what was awaiting you after school.
