Handicap. She is not handicap.
One day, even the law won't label her as handicap.••|••
"Let me help!" I yell out, still pushing Matt.
"I got this." He stubbornly repeats.
"Yeah, he's got this." Kyle laughs.
He was sent home in a wheel chair and Kyle's comments were just making it harder. I would probably be laughing if I actually wasn't concerned for the both of them.
"Shut up Kyle." They both laugh as Matt struggled with the wheelchair. For the past ten minutes, he's been trying to get it out of the handicap van we had to rent.
"Just let me help!" Frustration, due from two ignorant men that I love dearly, spills out of me.
"So if I push this.. You should push right out." Matt sounds unsure, and Kyle snorts.
"Or you fail, like everything else in your life, and you push me right off and I land on my butt. Or head."
"You're exaggerating." Matt laughs before stopping.
"Move!" I yell to Matthew and he doesn't make a sound, as he climbs out. Kyle links arms with me, and feel with my hands how he's stuck. I find the button on the side of the van and I push it. I move to the side and a ramp comes down out of the van.
"How?"
"Matthew. Trust your handicap girlfriend." I kiss his cheek.
"Right." We all laugh and I hear Kyle's wheelchair rolling down the ramp. I allow Matt to pull it up before holding his hand. "I don't like hearing you call yourself handicap." He sighs, "You are far from handicap."
"I know." I mock his sigh, "But legally I am handicap."
"Legal or not." He looks at me, "Don't call yourself that."
"Okay, I won't."
"I love you." He purs and I turn rosey.
"I love you too."***
"And you're dead, again! The fifteenth time!"
"Go Kyle. He's the best. If he can't do it," I stop.
"Finish it!" Kyle pushes my shoulder.
"No one can." I pout. I drag myself off the couch and stumble into the kitchen. "I need a break from you."
"Too bad. I want to play again!"
Before I allow him to beat me again, I slip into the bathroom.
"I'll just play without you then!" He yells and I laugh.
Matt helped set him up here, but he had to go to work right after. Tonight, he promised, he'd babysit and play with him. The only difference is, he won't have to let Kyle beat him; Matt is awful at video games. I lean against the door and focus on tonight. Being able to laugh at Matthew as he attempts to play, while Kyle still heals. They said to take it slow.. So about a month or so, he'll be able to walk on his own.. Hopefully. Good thing about being blind: I can't see my best friend injured.***
"What the heck?"
"Dude, you just shot yourself. How did you do that?" Kyle laughs and Matt joins him.
"I honestly have no clue."
"You somehow got your gun stuck in his arm!" Kyle keeps laughing.
"You know that I'm not good at this."
"Good is not the proper term." I add, smiling from my bed.
"Like you could do better? Ive been beating you all day."
"Cause I've let you." I murmur and Kyle picks up on it without my knowledge.
"Play me. Without pity of my juries."
"You're sure? I might knock that ego out of the sky."
"Show me what you got." His smirk is plain in his tone. Matt kisses my head before I place on my ear set; special addition for blind people.
Our game went by within three minutes, before I wiped him out. I slide off my earset and Matt handshakes me as I bask in the glory.
"She wiped you out man."
"I know." He sighs, and I kiss his forehead.
"Must hurt to lose to a blind girl."
"No, well a little, but-" His phone starts vibrating and everyone goes silent. "Hello?" Silence. "Oh hey!" His voice grows distant indicating that he's rolling away.
"Fine, I didn't want to gloat any more anyways." I snort and Matt takes my hand. "He's been on the phone all day."
"It's a girl-"
"It's drove me nuts, constantly pausing the game to text some- wait, did you just say girl?"
"Yeah." I push him.
"Shut up!" He laughs and I tune into the quiet conversation that Kyle is trying to have. "Shut up!" I repeat again, hitting his chest.
"I'm not saying anything!" He keeps laughing.
"Who is she? Do you know?"
"Uh.. Maybe." His hesitation to tell me who the girl is snaps me out of my excitement.
"Matthew Davidson." I say as firmly as I can. "Who is this girl?"
"You're not going to like it...."
"He's my best friend, he's stuck with me and I'm stuck with the mystery girl."
"It's Vanessa."
"Vanessa? Who's that?"
He takes a deep breath and leans closer to my ear.
"The girl who hit him with her car."What
