What if she doesn't want it..?
What if she is scared and doesn't trust me?••|••
"I cannot believe you! Her?"
"What? She's a nice Lady."
"She definitely can't drive that's for sure." I snuff. "When did you even talk to her?"
"At the hospital. She visited me. Told me you suggested we talk once I woke up."
"I thought you'd like to hear her side of the story, not get close to her! She hit you with her car!"
"And she did it on accident!"
"Matt! Help me in this!" I turn to him and he hides his laugh,
"What am I going to do?"
"Pick a side." Kyle pouts.
"Pick a side? What the heck-"
"Just do it."
Silence. And I'm sweating....
"Kyle."
"Ohhh! You're boyfriend just told you! Ha-"
"Only because, from experience, the worst first impression isn't always the best; I mean you wouldn't even believe that I wanted to talk to you, you actually thought I was scamming you." My cheeks redden at the memory of our first meeting. "Plus, I would love to hear Kyle explain how mommy and daddy met." I laugh, finally giving in to this situation.
"Whatever. Just know I don't approve."
"Good cause when I'm better I want to go on a double date."
"Imma have to think about that one...." Matt huffs.
"So you don't like her!" I turn and fist bump him, but he shoots me down.
"I'm not sure about the 'double date', I can't judge her yet." He laughs and I walk to the kitchen.
"I take back my fist bump."
"Grace she is so sweet, you'll like her, if you give her a chance."And thats what I did..
After Kyle healed, well, still using crutches (but knowing his stubborn butt, he wasn't actually using them), we all dressed up and prepared for the most weirdest Dinner we would have in a while.
"I'm so not for this." I pout as Matt places a necklace around my neck.
"I know. But she's really made him happy the last couple weeks."
"But she hit him with her car!"
"Not on purpose."
"You never know." I turn to him and he laughs, "She could've planned this. Make him fall and then never pick him up!"
"Or maybe she's actually a decent girl." I narrow my eyes at his comment, not wanting to believe anything about this girl could be good.
"I'll be the one who picks him up." I sigh.
"You won't do it alone. Remember? I'm part of this family you have!"
"You've been part of this family since the beginning." I kiss his cheek.
"I can hear you two talking." I hear Kyle, and I shut up.
"I'm sorry, I'll behave." I smile innocently.
"You better."
"Come on guys, we'll be late." Kyle's voice stays neutral, but a little excitement pinches towards the door.
"Fine. We're coming."
Before we got to the restaurant, I was trying my best to calm my judgemental attitude.
"Hey!" Her high pitched quirky voice strained my ears in front of me.
"Hey Nessa." I hear a kiss on the cheek and then she reintroduces herself to us.
"I am very sorry for the way we met the last time."
"It's okay." I stay my stubborn self, "Let's eat, I'm starving."
"Of course."
Matthew grabs my hand, and we start walking after Kyle and Nessa go a little further.
"Easy now; she can tell. We all can. The hate is like radiating off you."
"Sorry..." I apologize, and hang my head.
"It's okay, just give the girl a chance." He kisses my forehead and I soak in his painful, but true words.
Once we met up again, we all sit down and I actually laugh a bit at her jokes and teases towards Kyle.
Everything was going amazing, until I started feeling Matthew touching my arm a lot, and only when the waitress came to check on us.. I finally got my answer when he folded his fingers in with mine when she brought the food.
"Here, hun." Her voice turned almost candy like- but to me, it was poison in my ears. I almost stood up and threw myself at her, and I probably would've, but Matthew just said thank you and she moved on. He stayed quiet about it, and so did I. But I knew everyone at the table noticed it. My blood boiled everytime I heard her voice though, and it was very hard to hold a good conversation with Nessa and Kyle.
It wasnt that Matthew was into her, or was scared to make a scene, no I know him better than that. He was being polite to everyone around us eating, which has always been Matt's priorities: others.
But at the end of the dinner, Nessa pulled the waitress aside, with me, and we all spoke. Nessa's voice was strict but easy, and I admired that.
The waitress apologized, and I moved on. Waiting on the men to get our cars, I finally spoke to her one on one.
"I didn't expect that."
"Expect what?"
"How likable you can be."
"Well, I try."
"It was amazing, what you did."
"I could tell you were a bit uncomfortable, but I'm just blown away by you! No offense, but I've never seen someone with such an illness get around so easily! It's amazing."
"Well, been stuck with it since birth, so you learn a few tricks." I shrug and she laughs again.
"Also, you and Matt are adorable!"
"You think so?"
"Yes."
"Ladies." Matt's voice turns my attention and I smile.
"It was a lovely dinner, and thank you, for giving me a chance."
"I'm sorry, for judging too soon."
"It's okay. I probably would too in your case."
We agreed to do this again, and I gave Kyle a hug, letting him know I approve. He said they wanted to catch a movie now and so Matthew and I let them be. I wanted to wait until they drove out of view, with Matt's help of that knowledge, to leave the restaurant.
"I'm sorry for that waitress, I would've made it more obvious-" I lean over and kiss his lips. His hands hold gently onto my waist, before pulling me closer. He pulls a stranded piece of hair out of our face, since we're so close.
"You talk too much." He laughs.
"You're the one who talks too much." He whispers and I touch my forehead with his before I take a deep breath.
"I love you."
"I love you too-"
"Do you know, this is the happiest time of my life? This may sound weird but, I am so looking forward to a future with you. I mean, imagine our kids... That's if you want kids... I don't even know if you want kids-"
"I want kids Grace." He laughs once more.
"Good, cause I do too."
We pull away from such a close distance, and I lean my head on his shoulder.
We probably sat there for a good half hour, soaking in each others presence. I've noticed something different about Matt the last few days, but I can't quite put my finger on it.. Almost like he's keeping something from me, but nothing like, too big..
Whatever it is, it's not keeping him away from me, just like bottling his feelings..
I know he'll talk to me when he's ready.. But until then.. I'm a little nervous.
