That morning, Mephiles said goodbye to Shadow, Sonic, and their pups. He'd sent a messenger to carry the letters to their destinations at the crack of dawn, and in a few days, he'd get replies and confirmations. He wanted to leave immediately.
In the meantime, he was trying to think of a way to be around Silver long enough so that when the time came for their trip, the uke wouldn't think that he's up to something.
And if there was one thing he knew....
Spending time with his pups meant spending time with Silver.
And a nice horse ride and picnic somewhere in the surrounding countryside sounding like just the right idea.
It would be nice as well, since the demon hadn't been too active in his pups’ lives the last two days. It would be a nice activity to do while they tried to bond.
Plus, with him being able to protect his family all on his own, it also meant that Tenshi didn't have to come.
He couldn't help but smirk. Oh yes, he was going to enjoy today very much....
He had his servants make the arrangements while he sat down to have breakfast with his family. He gave the news and smiled immediately when his children lost their manners and began cheering loudly at the table.
Silver blinked and tried to calm his excited little ones, but at their insistent pleading, he agreed to the horseride and picnic for the family.
His amber gaze glanced over at his mate, wondering what he was up to.
Meph was just happy to have his attention for that short moment.
Mephiles even insisted it was strictly for family since he'd be present the whole time. So Tenshi would have to stay behind.
The angel nodded and tried his best to pretend that it didn't get to him.
But Mephiles was glad that he had successfully got under the other's skin.
And Silver didn't seem overly upset that his new friend would be left out of their family time. The pups ate quickly, overly excited for their day out with their parents. The father just hoped the pups would help fill the trench dividing them. They shouldn't have to suffer through something like this.
Soon, Silver was off to help the pups get dressed in something more comfortable while Tenshi went off to busy himself by sparring with the guards.
Mephiles himself went to dress in something lighter as well after sending a servant to make sure that their horses were ready.
After the demon had quickly made sure that a packed lunch was ready for them, and when he was assured everything was ready, he waited by the front entrance.
He only had to wait about 10 minutes or so before his family came out, his pups excited to get a day out of the palace walls again, while Silver tried his best to hide his curiosity and confusion about what Mephiles could possibly be up to.
The young Lord then picked up his two sons and helped then onto his horse; they were still very young and unable to lead a horse on their own just yet. And Silver would take Crystal; since he'd spent quite a bit of time with his daughter, it would be a nice idea to do so with his sons today.
And Silver--not needing nor wanting help from Mephiles--easily mounted his own horse and only accepted his assistance with helping their daughter onto the saddle with him.
After making sure their children were safe and secure, both parents took off at a simple stroll, their children enjoying the ride immensely already.
