"Rose." Crowfeather mewed. "Yes?" Rose looked up from the starling she was biting into. "Please come with me," he said, nodding to Leafpool who was a foxlength away. Rose's eyes clouded in confusion. "Am... Am I in trouble? Did I do something wrong? -I-I I'm sorry?" She stuttered hopelessly. She stared at her paws. Leafpool stroked- awkwardly- her with her tabby tail. "No." She purred. "No. You didn't do anything against the code- or, for a matter of fact- anything, wrong. Rose tilted her head optimistically and said softly, "O.K., what's happening then?" Crowfeather led them to small cave- slightly smaller than the medicine cat's den. Inside the cave was a large ring of shining gold. The bottom was covered in hard, black earth- that would have been rich and fertile had it been watered. The gold perimeter-ed the cave, bending to the walls. It was rose gold- it had a pinkish hue to it. The walls were smooth- the ceiling low. A sheet of pearl covered the ceiling- making the dark walls glow with a pale, sparkling light. (The sea had once been here, and had left some treasures behind. The cats did not realize that the ore beneath them and above them was worth over 1,000,000 dollars- or around 900,000,000,000,000 rodents- if you bought them someplace. Anyway...) "Rose."Crowfeather murmered. Rose gazed at him in wonder. "Wha- I-I don't understand!" She cried- her eyes widening with fear and amazement. Leafpool stepped in. "Rose, you have been chosen to be our Clan leader!" she explained quietly. "We received a sign from StarClan." The she-cat added.
**********LAST SUNSET**********
"Leafpool!" A tom's voice murmered. Leafpool opened her eyes. "Hello, why did you bring me here?" She looked about her surroundings. Rosebushes covered most of the ground, and the stars were out- though the sky was still a sunset-kind of rosy dawn shade.Cherry trees stood here and there- and green grass was to be seen as far as the eyesight may travel. The grey tom shook himself. His blue eyes were excited, though he acted not so. "I have brought you here," he began, "to tell you who your Clan leader is. Look around you.your Clan leader is..." His voice faded. He faded. The wonderful place vanished. Leafpool felt like her warmth- her protection had gone with it, too. Her eyes snapped open. She wasn't a fool. She knew her Clan leader was Rose.
*********PRESENT TIME- MIDDAY**********
"So you see?" Muttered Crowfeather, starting to get bored of Leafpool's voice, and quite ready to hear his own- barking out rather juvenile orders like to get him two mice that had no tails- or something like it. "Yes." Rose dipped her head respectfully to the older tom. "I get it!" She touched the gold band with her nose-tip and felt warmth spread over her body. Then the warmth became intense heat- then died away. Suddenly, she was shivering with coldness. Finally, her eyelids became un-stiff so she could open them and see. She was in a huge field of wheat. Rose cocked her head to the right. She could see a large circle of short, green grass there. Crowfeather and Leafpool were already there, eyes sparkling with pride. Rose padded over to them, and the mates separated. In front of her stood a cat with a ragged grey pelt and blue eyes. The tom strode over to her. Though his pelt was scruffy, his eyes shone with cleverness, and his shape was outlined with tiny stars. "My name is Skywatcher. I met Leafpool's father on his quest to revive SkyClan- which became a Clan just like yours did- your FireClan. I've been bestowed the honor of giving you your first life on." His nose met hers. "I give you this life of balance so that you may always weigh your choices evenly and treat every cat the same- evenly." Rose felt an intense surge of shock and electricity shoot through her body, sharpening in her chest. She gasped in surprise. "I- Is that wha-" Skywatcher cut the she-cat off with a sharp nod. Next, a dark brown tom stepped forward. He had shifty green eyes that glowed mischeif and warmth. "Hi there, Rose." Rose leaped to her paws with excitement. "Daddy!" She purred. "Rose... I give you this life of love so that you may always see the good qualities of a cat instead of immediately judging them and to love life as it is." A warm sensation engulfed Rose, this time. It was like bliss- like a good dream that was really life. Like love. Desire. As her father walked away, a fluffy white kit bounced up. "Hi there!" He squealed. "My name is Blizzardkit! Ma says my life to you is of optimism so you will never forget the brightness of the coming future." A strong jolt overtook Rose. It felt like a rush of feelings- like speed, like sharp, biting wind, like fierce determination. She saw brightness all around her. A strange, blue light. Then, Rose found herself looking into Blizzardkits sweet, curious eyes. "Bye!" He squeaked playfully. At the end of the ceremonies, Rose looked choked up, and her eyes were emotional. "Rose," rang out the StarClan cat's voices. "Your old life is no more. Now, you are Rosestar! Rosestar! Rosestar! Rosestar! Rosestar!...."
