So I was just thinking about our generation and society and my mind was wandering alot. In school, we discussed how little girls are given Barbie dolls and cooking sets to play with and little boys are given trucks and action figures. If a guy wants to wear pink, that doesn't make him gay. If a girl wants to play sports, that doesn't make her a tomboy. Society's standards are influencing our parents and poisoning our children. One of my quotes are:
"It's not a phase, it's a lifestyle"
A lot of people think we go through "phases" and that we'll get over things. But we won't ever get over them. I made this in reference to WWE and the LGBTQ+ because being apart of the community is not a phase.
The other quote I admire that I came up with is:"Stereotypes don't exist, labels don't matter"
Stereotypes include emo, white girl, jock, nerd, etc. It's not like that. There are no high school 'cliques' like in the Mean Girls movies. This is reality, not fantasy. Labels (well they're not really 'labels' but still count) include race, sex, age, gender, religion, disabilities, culture, etc. Sure, they're factors that partly define us. But are they really important? No, they're not.
My teacher once said:
"There's no black race, white race, brown race, etc. There's only one race. The human race."We're NOT confused. We know who we want to be. YOU'RE confused because you don't know what it's like to be unique. Don't we breathe the same air as you? Where's the democracy for those brave enough to be different? You always tell us to go after what we want, and that's exactly what we're doing. So don't force us to follow your social norms.
This is the land of the free and the home of the brave. We're brave enough to stand out. Where's our freedom?
