I hope you're all doing well ❤️
Okay, so August 2019 — definitely the best month of 2019 for me and the best birthday I've ever had. I went on vacation with family and a few friends. It was like a movie. 12:00am literally happened on the boardwalk with my friends after our ferris wheel ride and we got to walk back to the hotel because it was a really safe and calm neighborhood. A few hours later we went to different photo shoot worthy places and ate at a restaurant. I also celebrated back home with my school friends a few days after. I wouldn't change a thing, it was incredible.
September was not fun, lol. The beginning of junior year, the transition to the most difficult phases of high school. Not much happened this month except for quite a few birthdays.
October was historic for me, honestly. For starters, I tried short hair for the first time. It was exhilarating and also relieving having my hair up to my neck for once, and I loved how it looked. Now to the more important event - I started my own club! It's a high school community service club that I created with one of my good friends and two of our teachers. We were on the news at our very first service event and we got T-shirts! It was truly everything I wanted and more. I also went to Fright Fest, which is wayyy better than going to Six Flags in the summer.
In November I got to see Hamilton! I also saw Beetlejuice. They were both way too good to explain in words, the experience itself was just surreal. This month I went to my first citywide science fair and started my first after school internship. There were several birthdays this month, too. I went to the Vessel and a French restaurant with my friend. The views are a million more times gorgeous at night.
December was pretty rough. I experienced burnout for the first time, and I hope I never allow myself to be in a situation like that again because it was mainly my fault. I was trying to balance my club, school, work, SAT prep, musical rehearsal, student government, and probably more (that I don't remember) all at once when I definitely shouldn't have. December helped me learn how to say no to people more. It ended really nice, though. I had good food in Chinatown and celebrated my best friend's birthday a few days after. And of course, the holidays :)
In January I performed my musical, went to a restaurant with a group of friends, did well my regents, and spent a lot of time with my cousins at their house. It was relaxing.
February was eventful. I went to the Museum of Ice Cream and celebrated a few birthdays. I dyed my hair (blonde highlights). I also got to go upstate on a school trip to see FDR's house and Marist College. The air quality was fr amazing.
March was when everything changed 😭 Since COVID happened, the beginning of March was spent celebrating a birthday and eating good Mexican and German food. Then, everyone had to get used to quarantine and remote learning. It was strange and I, like many people my age, went to TikTok and stayed there for long periods of time.
I spent April mailing birthday gifts, ordering food online, trying different makeup looks, and dancing horribly on TikTok. It was routine.
In May, I made the terrible decision to cut my own bangs. 😭 Thankfully, they're growing and I'll hopefully be able to fix them soon. They look decent at the moment, but could be way better. More importantly, my friend and I started a podcast to move our club online! It's only available on YouTube as of now but I'm excited. As I'm writing this, we've completed 3 monthly episodes.
In June, I went to my first birthday party outside again since quarantine. I also tried drugs (weed) for the first time and had it with alcohol aha, 10/10 do recommend but ONLY if you're safe, with people you are safe around, know what you're doing, and know what you're taking or smoking. Also, if you're young and/or know you won't be responsible, please do not try. Otherwise, it was a nice trip for me.
Last month, I started two virtual jobs. I made masks for the less fortunate and I'm currently in the process of delivering them. I tried to use my platform as much as possible to spread art and awareness on COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement and I will continue to do so. I got to see my friends for the first time since quarantine and it was really fun. We went to the city like we usually do and the photos were great. I also went out to eat with my team that I started the club with. My teacher is truly beautiful, she treated my friend and I to seafood. I tried calamari and mussels for the first time, and I was not disappointed.
This month!! Honestly I feel like August is always the best for me. I could be biased because it's my birthday month which is always fun, but I also had somewhat of a spiritual awakening. I feel like a completely different person. I started loving myself and my body. I posted more without worrying what people thought. I started journaling my goals and reflections. I started every morning with yoga and meditation. I drank more water, green tea, and aloe vera. I included way more vegetables and fruits in my meals while still consuming a ton of carbohydrates and protein. I invested in healing crystals, essential oils, a satin pillow case and satin eye mask to improve my sleep. I became more aware of the universe and God. Unrelated but I also did a ton of online ordering lol, I got around 20 things alone this month. They weren't all for me though 🤣
Right now, I had my first college scholarship interview and I've been accepted to the next round so I'm looking forward to the second interview, but I'm also worried and overthinking - as usual. My jobs are over and I completed a virtual service learning program that allowed me to meet and talk to people outside of NYC, like Chicago and California. They gave me a project that I have a month to work on so I'm doing that as well as two homework assignments. I'm also trying to work on my college essay and planning for my club since I'll be starting senior year online. I tried to learn how to cook but that didn't work out lmaoo so I'm going to hopefully attempt learning how to drive.
For my birthday this year, I'm celebrating with friends and family on the same day for the first time. We're planning to go to the beach and eat, play volleyball, release a lantern, play music, and enjoy each other's presence after so long. I know everyone (myself included) is prioritizing health and safety which is why I'm making sure we all have masks and use hand sanitizer + disinfecting wipes regularly. Otherwise, I'm happy because some of my friends have been asking me things like my size in clothes and favorite colors. That didn't happen much before so I really do appreciate them thinking about me and getting me gifts. The thought counts more than anything.
Sorry if this was really disorganized or robotic-sounding. I know about 4 people at most will probably read this lmaoo but I like writing to reflect and organize my thoughts. I hope you are all staying informed, healthy, safe, and happy. Please feel free to talk to me if you ever need someone, even if you don't know me. It's 2:50am right now and I don't know when I'm going to update again 😭 but the plan right now is to publish the updates for all my books, eat, maybe watch Avatar, and sleep around 3:30am. Realistically, it'll probably be 4 or later but that's alright because I have a free day so I can sleep in.
Until next time loves ❤️
