I peered over Connor's shoulder as he read through it.

"Blah blah blah blah...ah, here we are. It's Spence, then us right away. Jayden's doing his own thing?" Connor asked me, confused.

"What? Give me that." I grabbed the paper out of his hands and Gabe, Holden and Dylan looked over my shoulders.

"Where is he anyway?" I asked, looking around.

That's when I saw the wierd stares, the glares and the whispers coming from the female half of our school's population.

Connor put a hand on the small of my back and led me towards a table.

"They're going to make sure everything's set up for our thingee." said Connor, pulling out my chair, pushing it in when I sat down, and then sitting down next to me.

"Hey, Spencer." Jayden all of a sudden appeared next to me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Connor narrow his eyes.

"Hey Jayden." I smiled at him, "Why didn't you tell me you were going to do your own thing?"

Jayden looked up quickly, "Oh...yeah. I should probably go start getting ready. I'm first." He laughed nervously and rushed away.

"That was weird." I said.

"Yeah." Connor watched him pracically running towards the backstage door.

"Hey guys." Dylan plopped down in Jayden's vacant seat.

"Is everything ready?" I asked.

"Almost. Holden and Gabe are taking care of it."

"Good."

Awkward silence overtook the table.

"Let's go dance." I suggested.

"Okay." Dylan shrugged and stood up.

We walked out onto the dance floor and kind of stood awkwardly in the midst of the dirty dancing.

"I think this was a bad idea." I whispered, moving closer to Dylan as a girl tried to grind on a guy that was a little too close for comfort.

"Yeah." DYlan whispered.

The song changed, and 'Moments' by One Direction came on.

"I feel like this song is overused at dances." I whispered as Dylan turned to me and put his hands on my waist.

"No kidding." He whispered back as I put my hands on his shoulders.

"They play it like three times at every dance." I said, looking up at his face.

"This is so awkward." I started laughing, trying to cover it up as people started giving us weird looks.

Dylan grinned down at me, and I laughed harder.

"Shhh." He tried not to laugh himself as the couple next to us glared.

Soon both of us broke down and we stumbled back to the table, a giggling, crying mess.

Holden simply raised an eyebrow, Gabe sent us a weird look, and Connor looked like he was choking on his mint.

"Why can we never be serious?" asked Dylan, coughing.

"Because you were not born to be serious." I laughed.

"I can be serious, I just choose not to." Dylan said.

"Well, there's the answer to your question." I said.

I looked at the schedule of events paper.

Eight to nine; dancing. Nine to ten-thirty; talent show. ten-thirty to midnight; dancing.
