"HUH!?" we all gasped.
"Our leader, Richard, are no more. You kids defeated him, no? There's no more point in continuing the dream of a dead man. And not to mention the majority of our forces have been defeated as well."
"So after all this, you're just gonna throw in the towel!?" I asked.
"Pretty much," he replied.
"You guys still need to answer for your crimes," I shot at him with heavy anger. "A lot, and when I say a lot, I MEAN A LOT, of innocent people lost their lives or loved ones during your war. Every major and minor place on the Earth has been left in turmoil. You can't just walk away this late in the game!"
"The Black Act's is a very affluent organization, kid. We've been clandestinely raising funds since World War One, almost three quarters of a century before Richard became leader. He pushed forward his melancholy ideals and converted us into power hungry terrorists!"
"The heck!? Since World War one!" I exclaimed in astonishment. "You guys have been at this for that long?"
Walt went on, "we can and will most certainly use our ridiculous remaining resources in the reconstruction of society and the world at large. Of course, all the money in the world won't change everything back to normal, but we'll do what we can. I just hope you guys can show us some sort of forgiveness, if possible." He gave me an innocent, pleading look. The kind that can momentarily flinch some real evil guy. The kind that can make the devil see the error of his ways and beg for forgiveness from God.
"....." All heads turned to me. I looked down at my snow covered feet, hard pressed in assessment of what I just heard. I looked at Walt straight in the eye, walked up to him, pulled out my hand and said, "Fine. I forgive you. As long as you are sincere and is willing to change, then I guess all of you deserve a second chance. No matter what may have transpired in the past, you guys are still human beings."
Walt's eyes lit up. "Much appreciated, kid. Now, I want you all to come with me. There are a lot of remaining citizens who got left behind during the English Assault slash rescue operation a while back. Our first act of good will is to get them back to their homelands."
"Alright, I can work with that."
"Also, there are some very important people whom you should speak with. Namely, some world leaders."
"Cool! Let's move people!" I turned to face my friends, who were giving me weird looks. "What?"
"Um, let get this straight. After risking our lives going after these guys for so long, you are suddenly going trust them and expect us to do the same!?" asked Liza.
"We don't have to trust them; we just have to believe in them... oh wait, that's almost same... Anyway, you get the point!"
"Which is?"
"Can we just go!? I'm sticking with my buddy on this one, though I don't like it either," said Jai.
"Fine then. Lead the way, Walt," she finally gave up.
While we were heading towards the base, we were reunited with Jadian and Scarlet. I filled them in. Their surprised reactions were understandable. After all, it is difficult to trust your most hated enemy when they claim to want a truce.
Soon, we arrived. There were a number of survivors already gathered outside in front of the damaged building, dressed in warm clothing, chattering indistinctly.
