A/N: so this was meant as kind of a teaser for the presequel because it takes place in Asgard and I decided they should have dragons XD. The dragons themselves will make an appearance in the book and so I wrote this to kind of give you an idea of a certain plot twist that might come up. Once upon a time, before the realms existed, there were the dragons.
There were two tribes of them: The Fire Clan and the Ice Clan. Once, the two clans had been peaceful. They lived in harmony with one another and loved each other like brothers. There was only one rule which both clans obeyed: never breed with the other clan. For mellinia, both clans obeyed the rule. Fire married fire and Ice married ice. Then, one day during the spring, the rule was broken.
One of the males from the Ice Clan fell in love with one of the Fire Clan's females. Desperate to get her attention, he decided to create something beautiful for her. He breathed a column of icy air into the sky and formed the realm Jotunheim. It was very pleasing to the eye, sparkling like a diamond. Unfortunately, it began to fall from the sky, for there was nothing to hold it up. However, the Ice Dragons were gifted with magic, and he used his magic to weave an ash tree into the soil of his own realm, Svartalfheim, to hold up Jotunheim. He named it Yggdrasil and it held up the realms forevermore.
When she saw what the Ice Dragon had done, the Fire Dragon was delighted and flattered. She had fallen in love with the Ice Dragon as well, and so she breathed fire into the sky and created the realm of Muspelheim. It too found its place in Yggdrasil.
When the Ice Dragon saw what she had done, he arranged a time for them to meet where the other clans would never find them. Soon, the two dragons had fallen deeply in love with each other. Unfortunately, they were discovered by the Fire Dragon's father and the two peaceful clans erupted into a full scale war. There were many deaths on both sides. At the conclusion of the war, the dragons decided that the two disobediant dragons should be cast out of Svartalfheim and banished to different worlds. The Fire Dragon was exiled to Muspelheim and bound in the great volcanoe. The Ice Dragon was exiled to Jotunheim where he was bound in the planet's icy core.
They remain there to this day, but there is hope for them yet. It has been foretold that one day, a boy from the Ice Clan and a girl from the Fire Clan will unite on a quest to set them free. Together, the four of them shall bring peace and order to a realm plagued by war and bring rest to the warring Fire and Ice clans forevermore.
