chapter 7: love and fun.

Next day
Me and Suzanne decided we were going to get some breakfast before renting some movies and watching them at home in our wee fort again. When we got back I pulled a box out from under a bit of carpet near my side of the bed and put it on the bed between us. I opened it to reveal chocolate and other things I had sneaked from the freezer when passing by or on duty. Police and military who are on duty at the Base have their lunch in the kitchen, they usually make the food fresh for them.

"how did yoi get all this?"

"well you know how I've been doing overtime for a while, well basically me and one of the chef's became friendly and I woukd ask him to sneak me the occasional sweet thing so I could do this"

"aww babe I love you"

We kept chatting amd watching movies. We spent most of the time holding each other and hugging

At about lunch time Suzanne had fallen asleep. I thought fuck it and went to sleep aswell that's how it went for the rest of our days off.

On our first day of 4 back on at work we.were to go on a supply run to a hospital not far from the Base.

We got our kit and went off to meet the rest of the team. When we got there the captain greeted us.

"right now the last of our medics are here we're going to split in to two teams. So Sergeant Gemmell from the police and major Carleton would yous come up to the stage please. I want yous to pick your teams. Sergeant yoi first, choose a medic."

"Suzanne"

"And major yoi get corporal Winters over there."

That's how it went for the next 10 minutes till we had 2 teams of 15.

After that we set off. The two teams jogging 3 miles one team on either side of the road. Once we reached the city the plan was we would go separate ways and go in through the sides of the hospital. While we were on the way there one of the soldiers in my team asked me what my plan was.

"well, if there is anyone held up in there then they will have booby trapped the door so my plan is to use the fire escape and get up to the first floor and go in through there"

When we got there we went through the fire escape and in. We started to grab all the kit we could. Blood bags, pain killers, IV drips even rubber gloves

When we were about to leave our radios stared to go off with the other group screaming for help because they were being attacked. I had also forgot I had a helmet cam, so it had been recording the whole time. We ran to the other team. They were holding up in a corridor

When we got there it was a blood bath. They were either bitten shot or both. We found the major still breathing but he was bleeding out amd turning. As I crouched beside him he grabbed my arms to try and pull him self up

"gas. We were infected."

"SHIT EVERYONE GAS MASKS ON NOW!!"

As we got them on the major started shaking amd growling I looked at him leaning again the wall before I put my boot and his head through it. We decided not to wait and just ran with the supply's we got.

As we ran out we seen a couple of ambulances and decided to take them and drive back to the Base. There was no way for us to go back to recover the bodies not without risking ourselves amd the rest of the Base.

When we got back me and Suzanne just stayed in Our room. As soon as we got in the door before she even took off her medic gear she broke down crying.

"how could that have happened it makes no sense. They were gassed with the virus and shot, Anyone of us could be a target. What if they gas the Base."
