There she was standing in the summer sun; her long hair waving in the slight breeze, her skin a golden sun-kissed brown. She was gorgeous. Her laugh was contagious, her touch was intoxicating. I could slowly feel myself falling in love with this gir...
Skip way ahead. It's the Summer of 2016 and I got a job at the pool as a lifeguard. I was able to see Corie all the time between work and softball. Hopefully this summer would be better than the Spring...
*Quick back flash-- My friend Emily Miller committed suicide in March. This is supposed to be an uplifting story so I'll spare the details. She was almost 18 and I miss her, a lot. But she's no longer fighting where she is and she'll finally be at peace.-- Also at one point I also told Corie I had feelings for her again. But this time it wasn't as bad.*
Other than life guarding, our softball team was the highlight of my summer. We went to Oklahoma City and, even though we lost every game, it was so much fun being together as a team. We made so many memories; running through Bricktown, sleeping in a hotel, walking through a ghetto mall, and almost getting in a fist fight with another team. We went into state determined to come back and show everyone what we were made of. We were undefeated coming into the championship game. We lost that game but, because it was double elimination, we had one more chance to defeat the opposing team. It was tied 6-6. One more score and we would win. Bases were full and I was sitting on third base, just waiting for a base hit. Riley was up to bat. As soon as I heard her bat make connection and saw the ball travel towards the third baseman, I was gone. As soon as I got close enough, I slid into home. The crowd and our team erupted in cheers. All I could do was sit there in disbelief. I scored the winning run and we were now USSSA 16U Class C State Champs.

At that point, the only thing in my mind wasn't the winning run. It was that I wanted this; the wins, the losses, and everything in between, I wanted them all with her...
