Chapter 0.1 - Make you my wife!

Kongpope's POV

I noticed him right away. He was the senior that spoke to me when I was stressing over faculty and university choice. He was really friendly and even gave me a drink. I was planning to look for him when I got to the university and thank him for helping me reach a decision.

I don't have to look further but why did he seem different. I glanced around and saw that everyone looked nervous and some even looked scared. The atmosphere in the auditorium went from laughter to fear in a matter of seconds.

When he started to speak, his tone was harsh and strict. He sounded nothing like the same person I met just a few months back. I was surprised by the change in character.

I liked what he said about the gears and cogwheels needed to work together. Honor and dignity are things I believed in.

Then, he said something that made me think why are they being so harsh. The task of getting 1000 signatures in one week. Before I thought about it, I had already raised my hand and introduced myself.

'Kongpope, Student code 0062. May I have permission to speak?'

His stare was more like a death glare. I felt the hair on my neck stand up and not in a good way.

'One week is too short. Can we get more time?

'You haven't even tried and you've already given up?'

'If it was you, can you do it?'

If looks could kill, I was sure I would have dropped dead right there.

'My orders are absolute!'

Now, I had everyone staring at me and the seniors were all glaring at me.

'Shit!' I thought. I shouldn't have said anything. This was an issue I had. I used to act before thinking it through. This has gotten me into sticky situations before.

After the hazer squad left, I felt instant regret for what I said. Why didn't I just keep quiet? I sighed when the guy sitting next to me spoke.

'You were so cool to stand up to them. I'm Oak.'

'I'm Tew.' The other guy behind me.

'I'm Kongpope. You can call me Kong. This is Aim. My friend from high school.'

'Hey, Aim. Do you any of play video games?'

Aim's face brightened up, 'I do.'

I rolled my eyes. Aim was all about games. I was sure the four of us would get along. We grabbed the booklets all thinking exactly the same time.

What happens if we can't get the task done? What punishment awaits us?

The rest of the day was busy with us attending class. I already knew calculus would be tough but I was already having a headache about it. During lunch, all the freshmen were running all over trying to get signatures of the seniors.

Aim, on the other hand, was a shy guy. He never started the conversation with a stranger but once the conversation started he was fine. But that first step was always tough for him. I remembered that it took him a few weeks to actually talk to me first in high school since I was always starting conversations.

He mentioned once he felt high levels of anxiety when he was younger about talking first to people. It has gotten a bit better over the years. I took his booklet to get some signatures for him.

I was feeling positive despite the first hiccup with P'Arthit. Maybe we can get the 1000 signatures within the week. I was sure I already had about 6 pages of signatures. I spotted a table of second-year seniors when I heard my name being called.
