I can't believe I ran into Kongpope at the code and co-code members' dinner. He was Pern's first-year code member. During dinner, he mentioned that he originally wanted to be in economics and not engineering. I felt my mood sour when I heard that.
Why the hell was he here then? Making me angry all the time when he didn't even want to be here.
After the dinner, Knott messaged me that he could give me ride back. I walked out of the restaurant waited out front.

'P'Arthit how are you getting home?'
'None of your business.'
'P'Arthit, are you mad at me?'
'Why should I be mad at you? There is nothing between us. You haven't even been accepted as my junior and you don't even know if you want to study here.'
'P'Arthit, I am currently an engineering student.'
'So what? You took someone's place and you don't even want to study here. You know how many people want to study here and you're just going to come here for a year and then transfer out?'
'I have my reasons. I'm here now, aren't I? I study hard and do well with my studies. I'm part of every engineering activity too and I'm confident that I can capture that flag too.'
'It's not going to be easy as you think, Kongpope.'
'Like you said I shouldn't give up before I even try. I know I can do it!'
He said what I had said to him when he argued for more time to get senior signatures. His eyes always held this fiery confidence in them. It irritated me even more in this situation. I'm going to make sure he doesn't get that flag.
Just then, Knott came by with his bike. I got on the back seat.
'Hey Kongpope, how are you getting back?'
'He can get back on his own. He is not a kid.'
'Oh...'
Knott drove off and I could see Kongpope in the side mirror just staring at us. Knott dropped me off in front of the dorms.
'Hey Knott, I'm going to change the flag ceremony.'
'Why? Didn't we already plan it?'
'No...I'm going to make it harder this time.'
'What did Kongpope do to piss you off this time?'
I was surprised Knott caught on so quick.
'Did you know he wanted to be in economics?'
'So?'
'That means he didn't want to be in engineering!'
'So what Arthit? It's better to do something you like than something you don't. Remember Mailan, our friend from our first year. He transferred to architecture and is doing really well. Isn't that normal? Why are you so angry about that?'
