Special Chapter 1-2 [Prem X Wad 4]
The Next Day
Wad's POV
Oak asked me what happened when he saw the bruises on my face.
'Fell down the stairs.'
'Are you okay?'
'I'm fine. Thanks for asking.'
I didn't want to tell them I got beat up over the basketball win. It would make them all feel guilty when it's not their fault. So, I lied about it.
After morning classes, I text P'Prem. I needed to give him the money and get back my spare key. He told me to wait by the student center building. I saw him walking from the other side.
I felt that he looked different to me now. Was it because of what happened? Whenever I used to see him before, all I felt was displeasure but now I felt...something else that I couldn't explain.
When he approached me, his face held a kind of gentleness I wasn't used to seeing on people's face when they looked at me. I only felt that when my mother looked at me. I felt butterflies in my stomach as he approached. I was nervously shuffling my feet.
'Sawadeekhap P'Prem.'
'Sawadee Wad...how are you feeling?'
'Good...'
His hand came up to touch the bruises on my face. They had gotten darker and more visible after 2 days.
'Does it hurt?'
I felt my mouth go dry. His fingers on my face were making me lose my train of thought. I was trying to find words to speak but my voice wouldn't come out.
His hand dropped and I wished it didn't. What is happening to me?
Then, P'Prem quickly told me what had happened yesterday as he made me follow him to P'Tee's office.
'P'Prem...you've done so much for me...I...'
'Hey Wad, you are from the engineering faculty. We all look out for each other.'
Shame is what I felt when he said it. I haven't acted like a student of the engineering faculty at all and yet he thought to help me. I was horrified at myself for being so disrespectful towards P'Prem.
I sat in P'Tee's office. P'Prem dropped me off and went to class. I talked to P'Tee about what happened and how P'Prem came to my rescue.
'Wad...do you want to take this matter all the way to the dean? I'm sure they will get expelled since we have evidence and witness statements from both Prem and Cris.'
I didn't say anything for a few minutes.
'No...it's fine. Just give him other punishments. If they get expelled, their families will suffer more. That's not going to teach them anything.'
'I agree but are you sure?'
'Yes, P'Tee. I'm fine. Thank you for all your help.'
'Don't thank me. P'Prem spent a lot of time tracking these guys down. He's a good senior right?'
I nodded feeling guilty again. I still have to apologize but I just didn't know how to bring it up. I dropped by the security office and met with P'Cris. I relayed to him what happened and how it all started. He wrote it all into the incident report.
I left feeling anxious as to how to apologize to P'Prem.
At the Flag Ceremony
Originally, I wasn't going to go to the capture the flag event for the freshmen but then it would be even more disrespectful towards the seniors who helped me. I tried my best and contributed to the ideas of how to get through each level. The event made me realize that I was short sighted about a lot of things that the SOTUS system was trying to convey. I was glad I came to the event.
