Chapter 0.6 - Why is he here?

Arthit's POV

I heard the knock on the door.

I yelled, 'Prem, it's already open, idiot.'

I was reading a comic book.

'Prem, what took you so long? Did you go to the field to get rice for the porridge?'

'Sorry to intrude P'Arthit.'

I looked up to see who it was.

It was Kongpope

It was Kongpope. Standing in my room with a bag of food and pink milk. My mouth fell open in surprise. He smiled at me.

I blinked a few times thinking I was seeing things but why would I imagine this freshman of all people! He was in casual clothes. A gray sweater and blue shorts. His hair looked a little messy. His face held a smile and made him look like he was looking at ...I didn't finish the thought.

'What are you doing here?'

'I met P'Prem downstairs and he had to go meet a hazers' meeting so, he asked me if I could deliver this to you.'

Shit! Prem! Was he taking revenge because I was whining? He is dead meat when I see him later.

He looked at my foot. I felt uncomfortable because I was in boxer shorts that ended mid-thigh. I felt so exposed in front of this guy. This is not how I want a freshman seeing me, the head hazer.

'Did you hurt your foot P'Arthit?'

'No.'

'Then, why is it raised like that?'

'This is how I like to sit.'

He poked the part of my ankle that was swollen.

'Ouch! What-..'

'So, you did hurt yourself after the laps?'

I didn't look at him. He grabbed the table and put if carefully over my lap. He opened the porridge bowl and put it the drink on the table. Then, he sat down on the chair at my desk.

'Eat before it gets cold P'Arthit

'Eat before it gets cold P'Arthit.'

'Hmm....'

I took a few spoonfuls.

'Why are you still here?'

'You can't walk so I'm waiting for you to eat then I'll take the table and bowl away.'

'Hmm...'

He started to walk around my room. I felt like he was invading my space. My life. Why was his presence having such an effect on me? I didn't understand it.

'P'Arthit, you like to read comics?' I saw him reach for one.'

'Tsk...don't touch anything.'

He glanced back and just smiled at me. He then went over to my balcony and pulled the curtains a bit.

'P'Arthit, I'll bring your clothes inside.'

'You don't have to do that.'

'I'm here already. I might as well help.'

He went out to my balcony and grabbed my clothes. He then pulled out the ironing board and plugged in the iron.

'Kongpope, what...you don't have to do that.'

'I like ironing. It's one of the things I'm pretty good at. I always help my mother with it.'

He smiled and proceeded to iron my clothes. He was definitely better at it than me. I rarely ironed my clothes. He focused on the task at hand it reminded me of when I saw him practicing the guitar in the classroom. After he was done, he unplugged the iron.

'P'Arthit....do you like robots?'

'Yeah...'

'Is that why you chose to be an engineer?'

'I think so...'

'I always wanted to get the Gundam robot models but they were too expensive and my father wouldn't buy them for me.'

'Yeah I know right? I saved all my allowance to buy those. I have way more at home.'

He stood up to put my clothes in the closet. Were his shoulders always that broad? What the hell? Why did I think to notice that? My brain must be melting from the pain in my ankle.

I finished eating and he took the bowl and my drink cup. When he grabbed the table his hand brushed my thigh. I felt a shiver run up my spine. He didn't seem to notice.

What the hell was that? Why am I feeling so jittery?

'P'Arthit, where are the pills you need to take?'

'There.' I pointed to my desk.

He walked over and was reading the prescription.

'P'Arthit, these are before meal pills. Why didn't you tell me?'

I felt like a child being scolded by their mother.

'I forgot...'

'Now you already missed one dose. Don't forget when you eat dinner today.'

'Tsk...stop scolding. I'm your senior Kongpope.'

'You are my senior but you are currently sick so it doesn't matter.' He smiled slightly when he said this. I felt my face flush.

'Okay...thanks. You can go now Kongpope.'

'Maybe I should wait for P'Prem to get back.'

'No! You don't have to do that.' He grinned at my flustered expression. He just smiled widely.

'Okay then. I'll see you later P'Arthit. Don't forget the pills before dinner.'

'Okay okay stop nagging already.'

When he left I wondered why I always flounder like an idiot when I see him lately. Something changed but I couldn't figure it out.
