-Raven-

“He’s out of the hospital,” Ethan told me, smiling. My day had immediately turned around and I smiled too.

“Really?”

“Yes. Jake went to go pick him up, should be here any minute actually.” I was ecstatic. But at the same time, something felt wrong. As if I shouldn’t be happy about him coming back.

Three days. It had been exactly three days since my fight and then descent conversation with Zach. But something had been wrong since then too. There was this awkward tension between us, and neither of us had mustered up enough courage to speak to each other. Whenever I saw Zach though, he would stare at me until I finally realized it, and then walked away.

It was seriously awkward and unbearable to deal with.

I was finally freed from my thoughts at the sound of an engine being cut off. Jace stepped out with a lopsided grin and stepped towards me. He put his arms around me, and my wolf protested. It had taken one whole year to get rid of it, and now it’s the uncomfortable feeling of another persons’ hands on me besides Zach’s.

As Jace leaned in to give me a kiss, I tilted my head a different way so he kissed my cheek, then gave a realistic sounding yawn. Not only did I feel uncomfortable with his hands around me, but I was still a bit angry about what he said at the hospital. Dammit, I thought. The motorcycle was still there. I’d have to get it later this afternoon.

“Hey,” Jace’s voice rang in my ears.

“Hi,” I said back, “So feeling better?” He stepped back and lifted his shirt up to reveal gauze wrapped around his torso

“I’m…getting there.” I smiled.

“Good, glad you’re in recovery.”

“Raven,” Jace paused, “Can we talk?”

I raised an eyebrow, “What is there to talk about?” He rolled his eyes.

“You know what I’m referring to.” He said, taking a step closer.

“Do I?”

“Raven, I’m serious right now.” I ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated.

“So am I. What is there to talk about, I mean really? It was your own damn fault you just had to ask it. I don’t get why you can’t just forget about it.”

“Because I need an answer!” He practically screamed. I looked around, everyone around us stood there, probably mirroring my expression. Shocked.

“I-I-I think I need to go for a little bit.”

“Raven wait I’m-“

“Sorry,” I finished his sentence, “But obviously you need to cool off. So if you’ll excuse me…” I trailed off then started walking. He grabbed my hand, and I craned my neck to look at him. I scowled and shrugged him off and his pathetic look.

“Jake? Could you bring me to the hospital?” He looked confused but nodded and I got on the passenger’s side of the car. My cheeks were hot with embarrassment. There were a lot of people there. That was the first fight type scenario I had ever been in with Jace. I really, really hated it.

I got out the keys for the motorcycle, thanked Jake, and then got out of the car. He began to drive off and I walked towards the parking lot where I parked three days ago. I put on the sunglasses I had and got on. Starting it up, I pulled out of the parking lot and drove away.
