“Alexis?” I repeat.

They nod in unison.

“What does that mean? Who’s Alexis?”

You are Alexis. That’s what you will find out at your Naming tonight. The elders might not have the name for you. Hardly anyone has information on you. Normally people don’t even get a new name at their Naming. They just learn who they are, for the most part.” Cae explains.

“So what is it that makes me Alexis?”

“Just about everything. The stories of the Goddess Persephone are all about her protecting the world. Sacrificing part of her life every year, and spends it with Hades. Now, you were named after Persephone because of that. But you’re not Persephone; you’re your own person, with your own story. You’re a Goddess.” Khia explains.

“What?” I shriek. “I’m a Goddess?”

“That’s enough for now. Let’s get you some Lunch, and we can continue this conversation.” Cae says.

“But… But how is that even–” I start.

“Later.” They say in unison, again.

“Okay, I’m done eating.” I say as I stuff the last bit of food into my mouth.

Khia nods. “Let’s go back to your room.”

I throw my dishes into the sink and bounce up the stairs.

“So, where did Damon go anyway?” I ask.

They both shrug.

“I’m getting tired of that.” I say harshly.

Khia crinkles her nose, as if she smelled something bad. “What?”

“The whole, it-doesn’t-matter, shrug.” I say.

“Well, it doesn’t matter. He left shortly after we showed up. He mumbled something about having a meeting to go to or something. There’s just something about him that I don’t like… I can't place it though.” Cae says.

I am left thinking back to his weird phone call. Does this relate? Mysteriously leaving to some meeting, and talking on the phone about nonsense. Whatever, I’ll have to ask him later, if I get the chance.

“Why do you guys think I’m Alexis?” I ask, although the name does have a certain familiar ring to it.

“You shouldn’t be able to use the power from the Labradorite stone. It doesn’t work that way. You have to know about its possibilities before you can even begin to possibly use it. There are rare occasions that it actually works. So I don’t think you used the gem. So you have premature powers that work without you even wanting them to work. The possibilities are endless with what your powers contain.” Cae says.

“What else?”

He seems nervous to tell me. He runs his fingers through his hair. “The only things that can go to the World of the Dead are either Fallen Angels, Demons, helpers of Hades, or very powerful Gods. And I’m pretty sure you aren’t any of the first three or I wouldn’t have been bound to help you.”

“Um, is there any way to like, control that?”

They both ponder that. It’s not like that’s a normal occurrence that they would know.

“I might know. I’m uh, well, I’m part Luwah.” Khia says.

Cae jumps away from her, as if she will attack him. I sort of stumble back.
