Aliens in the Attic

Chapter Ten

"I'm sorry, Hannah. I'm sorry. They got him," said Tom to his little sister offering her an apologetic look, Hannah lightly shook her head and lifted one pillow from her bed revealing Sparks, "Sweet, huh?" exclaimed the smiling alien, to this Tom responded "Very nice".

"This shit hurts, i hope i don't need to cut off my arm dude" Sofia quietly said to Jake, "We need to cure that", and Sofia opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by a sound coming out from outside, "This is the Creek Landing Sheriff's Department. Open this door at once," they all looked at each other panicked, " or I will begin forcible entry...in 10, 9...," he continued counting down while Jake was walking to exit the room "You guys get rid of the cop. I'm going after the aliens", Sofia ran after him saying , "Like hell you are, I'm coming with you", Jake rolled his eyes at her stubbornness "No you are not, you are hurt. Please stay with them" he said pointing her arm, and the last part he said it with puppy eyes, Sofia scoffed but nodded and said "Please don't die", Jake laughed and saluted her, running in the direction the aliens went.

Sofia ran downstairs once she had cleaned up her wound. She opened the front door and heard the Sheriff exclaiming "-around here, I am the law. Literally, I'm the only one. My deputy's on maternity leave". She saluted the Sheriff when she positioned herself besides her brother who was besides Lee and the Sheriff awkwardly saluted her back.

"Look, Sheriff, we told you we're sorry. It won't happen again" Tom said trying to sound convincing, Sofia continued "So, really, you can leave now. We'll be good" she flased him a smile, the Sheriff sarcastically said "Oh, I can leave? Okay, we got the whole problem solved", the box behind them was moving , "Hey, what's that there?" asked the curious Sheriff, they all chorused "nothing" sounding nervous, "Step aside, young man" he ordered Tom, who replied saying "No need for that. It's just my sister's robot dog, it's sound activated. Right, Han?", Hannah enthusiastically said "Right. It's not an alien", Sofia facepalmed her face.

The Sheriff wasn't buying the story "You know what? I'm gonna take a look inside that chest, so please step aside" they didn't had much of a choice so they did as they were told, the Sheriff approached to the chest but lucky for them, the parents had arrived. "Oh thank God"murmured Sofia to her little brother who nodded his head.

Uncle Stu was the first to get to them, he began interrogating his son "One hour. We're gone one hour. What happened? What'd you kids do?", Tom stayed silent, "Hi. Nina Pearson. Are you kids okay? Is everything okay?" asked Aunt Nina, the Sheriff responded "No, ma'am. I'd say making a fraudulent call to 911 about an alien invasion is most definitely not okay" and while he was saying that, the parent were looking disapprovingly at their kids, well except for Uncle Nate, George was eyeing her daughter "You called 911?" she just stared at her dad until Uncle Nate intervened looking at the Sheriff "Come on, buddy. I'm sure you can let these kids off with a warning. Look at 'em".

The Sheriff was done "One, not your buddy. Two, your vehicle is missing a front license plate. Three, how about I write you up a ticket?" he severely said, Uncle Nate tried being funny and responded "How about you don't?", Christine elbowed him "Nate, stop talking".

"You people usually leave your children unsupervised like this?" the Sheriff asked clearly concerned about the kids well-being, Sofia's dad spoke "No. No, not at all.We had to go into town to the leasing office," and Uncle Stu finished with "They shut our power off", the Sheriff looked around, saw the lamp with light and scoffed "Looks all right to me".

Sofia turned around and saw that indeed it was on, "Damn, we forgot about that" she muttered to herself and gto herself caught between her thoughts, them including some episodes from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air but was brought back to reality when she heard Aunt Nina saying "We're barbecuing, join us", Tom tried to say something "Mom--", the Sheriff responded to the kind offer "Thank you, ma'am. I'd like to, but I am on duty", Uncle Stu used somme words to convince the Sheriff "Look, the kids made a big mistake. And I assure you, Tom will be punished. But my wife is right. We got plenty of great food. Why don't you stick around?", Aunt Nina pushed a little more "I know you're on the job, but there's no law against a home-cooked meal, got lots of hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks and--" she began to describe all the food they had.

When she stopped, the Sheriff offered them a little smile saying "Okay. I have to admit, it has been a while. All right. Arm successfully twisted", Sofia and Tom turned to each other with panic on their faces, "I guess an hour off won't kill anyone". "Oh boy, you have no idea" Sofia mumbled to herself.

Suddenly, something was trown at the Sheriff's patch,"What was that?" exclaimed the Sheriff, Tom stepped forward to cover the little arrow that was trown and asked "What was what?", the Sheriff answered "I don't know. I felt something", Sofia moved herself besides Tom and said "Mmh, i dunno Sheriff. It might have been just a rock", the Sheriff gave her a puzzeled look "How--" but got cut off when Tom quickly said "Come on, everyone. Dinner" and tried to push everyone inside the house.

Once the others were inside the house, he turned to Sofia "You almost screw up", "I know, I know,"she let out a sigh and after a pause, pronounced under her breath "Thank you for saving it"; "I'm sorry, what did you said?" he exclaimed pretending that he didn't heard her and putting one of his hands around his ear having a smirk on his face. "I really hate you" she rolling her eyes and giving him the middle finger before entering the house.

Guyss, can you please tell me if you like the story??, it's just that, this is my first book and i'm planning on writing more soo i need to know what changes i need to make orr what mistakes i'm making, that kind of stuff. Also, you can, point out what you like about Sofia or ask me questions to get to know me, you guys.
