Aliens in the Attic

Chapter Twelve

Bethany was the first one to react and exclaimed in a demanding voice"What the heck was that thing?",  Sofia and Tom responded at the same time "Space alien", they looked at each other and Tom continued by saying "Too much to explain".

Tim butted in and said with a shrug"We think they're probably here to destroy the world as we know it" , Tom said "If we don't get down there, we're gonna be in real trouble"; as they were abou to move, Aunt Nina came in with Uncle Stu following her exclaiming " I'd say that's the understatement of the century" ; Uncle Stu noticed the way his mother was posing and asked "Mom? Are you okay?". They turned off her controller and with a insecure tone on her voice, said"What-- What happened? How-- How did I get-- I think I need a glass of water".

As soon as Nana left the room, Aunt Nina spoke"Okay. Somebody better start talking. It looks like you guys had a battle royal in here", Hannah answered her mother with her innocent voice "We did. Nana versus Ricky", her mother was not in the mood "Not now, Hannah". Tom tried to explain their actions "Dad, it's not what it looks like", Sofia decided to help and turned to her mom "Mom, I promise I have an explanation for this", "Shut it Sofia, I'm very dissapointed at you two" she said pointing at Tim too; Uncle Stu ordered "All of you, upstairs, now", Lee tried to explain "But, Uncle Stu, it wasn't our fault","Now". 

And so they left.

When they arrived at Hannah's room, Sofia couldn't help but rant, repeating "It's over, it's over. We are all dead, my time has arrieved" while walking the room. 

She got tired of walking and took a long breath and said "So, now what?", she positioned herself on the floor. The male teenager let out a sigh and said "I'm sorry, guys. It's over", Bethany entered the room exclaiming "Over? It better not be over. Ricky is down in the basement with that... space rodent", Tom turned to look at her, "You don't get it. An entire fleet of those guys are about to invade", Bethany scoffed  "Well, man up and deal with it".

He got on his feet and said "I have been... all day", she turned to look at the others "Well, if he's too scared, maybe you guys can help me", "Pfff, no way José" declared Sofia with a slight sarcatic smile then the Art exclaimed "Not without Tom", "Why?" asked Bethany, Lee and Tim responded this time in sync "Cause he is our leader". 

Sofia stood up and grabbed Tom's arm to make him look at her "Come on. It's not just Ricky, Jake needs your help too" she offered him a smile, Hannah went and took his hand "And Snuggles", Lee was the last one to add a reason "And, like, everyone on Earth,including our parents".

Tom took his time to consider the reasons, he looked at everyone's pleading faces and finnaly said "All right" he grabbed his potato gun, "Let's go save the planet" then he faced Bethany "And your dumb old boyfriend".

They were now walking down the stairs to get to the basement, Sofia was behind Tom with a bat on her right hand, "Just in case" she had said upstairs. Behind her was Bethany and she was grabbing her little sister's hand; Hannah noticed that she was nervous so she offered her monkey "You want Monkey? He's good luck", Bethany responded "I'm fine", but as soon as they heard a noise, she took monkey from Hannah.

Continuing going down stairs, Tom exclaimed in a low tone voice "Stay close,they could be anywhere". There was a big hole in the center of the basement, Tom took a flashlight that was on a desk near then and pointed at it. Some dirt moved and they freaked out, except for Sofia who got closer to take a look and started saying "Wait a minute, isn't tha--" but her sentence was cut because someone behind her pushed her in  the hole.

She landed on top of something and started shouting, Jake started shouting too. "It's Jake!" she exclaimed throwing herself at him to give him a big hug. 

Once Jake was out, they took out the tape that was covering his mouth, he started to tell what happened to him "Those Jerkonians-- They tied me up and dragged Snuggles outside", he stopped for a momment "This vacation really sucks", "You don't say" said Sofia while cutting the ties that where around him.

Tom was concerned about other thing "You see the machine?", his cousin asnwered "Yeah. You were right. It was sent here years ago, some idiot built this place smack on top of it". Bethany was looking for Ricky, "Guys? Guys, I found Ricky," he started to groan "He's waking up", "Yeepie" announced Sofia with a roll of her eyes.

"Where in the heck am I?" those where Ricky's first words, his girlfriend started to try and calm him down "Oh, baby, I'm so glad you're okay", but Ricky rudely pushed her away "Don't touch me!", he ran away from her so he was now infront of the stairs, Bethany tried to explain "Okay, okay. I know it's been a really weird day, but you have to let me explain".

He agreed but was annoyed "Okay. Okay. Explain to me why I keep blacking out, why I'm bleeding... and why your grandma did a flying ninja kick on my face down the stairs", she started telling the truth "Okay. We're fighting-- space aliens. Yeah, yeah; Okay, the're small,but dangerous and-- and really scary".

Ricky started replying "No. Of course.I believe you. Why wouldn't they be?" he sighed, "Bethany, why do you want to waste our time playing hide-and-seek and kill the aliens...with your stupid brother, his crazy girlfriend and your dumb little cousins?".

"Excuse you?" exclaimed Sofia from behind. She really hated Ricky, he was just a spoiled rich boy with a pretty car. Nothing more.

He had hitted a nerve, Bethany took a step closer to him and slowly pronunced "Don't talk about my family like that". "Well, you don't have to worry about it anymore, 'cause we're done. I knew I should have stayed home and hooked up with Annie. She's smokin' hot, and she doesn't like talking about feelings all the time," he made a weird gesture when he said feelings, Sofia thought "God, he's so weird", he continued his rant "I'm goin' straight to Annie's" and then he left.

"Finally, that prick is gone!!"
