Avenging Theo wouldn't be an easy task, but what great, Herculean effort was easy?

Neither Paul nor Theo had any desire to try to divide and conquer the teenagers of Liverpool. They would do this the way that they did mostly everything else: together.

Step one of exposing a rat was trying to get to the bottom of everything; Paul recognized the fact that the only way they could stop the poison from spreading was to attack it at the source.

"And what's the source, Sherlock?" Theo asked, crunching a corn chip to punctuate her question.

He scoffed at that, dramatically turning to the side window and gazing out of it.

Theo wished they weren't in the middle of the crowded Mexican restaurant so she could clock him upside the head; she didn't have anytime for the Paul show.

"Come on. No theatrics." she settled on urging him, reaching across the table and shaking his arm.

Anything to cajole Paul, the boy for which 'low-key' was only a phrase.

He turned back to face her, but the frown on his face didn't go away. "Honestly, that's all I had."

"Paul!" Theo yipped.

"I'm sorry! I was all set to get started, but The Brians came over last night and we had a Marvel movie marathon." he had no choice but to be honest with her.

"The stupid Brians and their stupid matching names." Theo mumbled, running a hand through her hair and rolling her eyes at the embarrassed blush that painted Paul's puffy cheeks a bright pink.

Stupid Paul and his stupid blushing cheeks, she thought to herself, before realizing how truly juvenile she sounded.

"Don't worry, though. They didn't say anything about you." he reassured her.

Theo took a sip of her water before arching an eyebrow at him.

"I wouldn't be too worried about what a silly pair of boys think about me."

There was a pause. She frowned and looked down at the table, averting her eyes from the boy across from her.

"Maybe I would."

"Hey, hey, you know that if they even thought about saying anything, I would have kicked them out." It was Paul's turn to reach across and try to bring her out of her shell.
