His heart beat heavily against his chest as he opened his mouth.
"I met someone." He blurted it out without any warning. His wife stopped what she was doing, she couldn't look at him though.
"What?" Was all she could muster.
"I met someone." He repeated.
"I heard you. I heard you loud and clear. Do you love her?" She could hardly form the words without her stomach churning.
"We met a few months ago but yes I'm in love with her." He couldn't even look at the back of her, he felt so ashamed for doing this to her.
"How dare you?!" She threw the oven door closed and ripped the oven mitts off of her hands. "Get out!" She screeched as her fists hit his broad back.
"I'm sorry." Was all he could say.
Once he was out of the house she locked the door. She slid herself to the ground and screamed. It felt as though he had taken a knife and stabbed her in the stomach. She had spent her life loving this man through everything, honoring the vows they had both made. She stayed by the door all night, praying he wouldn't come back.
