As soon as I close the door to my house, my smile falls. It's hard fake smiling most of the time. I sigh and take my shoes off. I walk into the living room and see six bottles of beer on the ground with a beer stain in the rug.Seriously? I grumble and pick up all the cans. As soon as the cans are in the trash, I walk back into the living room with a scrub brush and bleach. Might as well clean this up before he gets home.
Once that thought crosses my mind, I glance at the clock in a panic. 6:00pm. I sigh with relief. I have two whole hours before he gets home. I get down on all fours and start scrubbing the rug with the bleach. If it's not cleaned right, he'll be pissed. And when he's pissed, he'll take it out on me. I scrub harder, I better hurry.

After a good scrubbing, I get up and examine my work. The rug is back to white and the stain is gone, it it still looks wet. I glance at the clock. 6:50. I have to start dinner!
I quickly put away the cleaning brush and run into the kitchen. I look on the fridge and see a sticky note that Auska left for me. I pick it up and read it.
"Make sure you make the roast and the miso soup. I want it done before I come home.
-Auska"
I crumble the paper and open the fridge. Okay....potatoes, meat, broth, carrots. I take all the stuff out and look at the shelf above the stove.
"Salt, pepper, lemons." I say and start to prepare the roast, since it'll take longer that the soup.
"Hmm, what am I missing....?" I turn around spot the butter on the opposite counter. I smile and grab it. Cooking always makes me happy. I used to do it all the time with my mom. At the thought of my mom, frown and shake my head. Now is not the time.
When I place the roast and potatoes in the oven, I take a look at the clock. 7:15. I run over to the cabinets and grab the medium pot from the second shelf. I turn on the stove and place the pot on top.
"Okay, the roast will be done in 45 minutes, the soup in 10 minutes." I add the broth to the pot, then clap my hands. "Let's do this!" I yell, ten continue to add the other ingredients.
~~~~~
"Perfect!" I smile to myself as I cut into the roast. It's tender and fully cooked. I smile and turn towards the soup. It was already done, but I still check to see if it's still hot. I dip my spoon in and bring a spoon full to my lips.
"Yup, still hot.......hmm, it could use some pepper." Just as I'm adding the pepper into the soup, I hear the door open and close. He's here...
"I'm home." I run into the room and see Auska putting away his coat. I force a smile and walk over to him.
"Welcome back. How was your day?" I ask. He just glances at me, then turns his head away.
"Is dinner done?" He says and tosses me his scarf. I catch it and hang it up as he walks into the other room.
"Yes. You you want to eat now?" I ask, he sits at the table, not looking at me.
"What do you think?" I don't say anything. I just bow my head and head to the kitchen to make his plate. When I come back out, he's starring at me hard. I don't look him in the eye and I set the plate in front of him. As soon as I turn around, he grabs my arm.
