"Here's the documents you asked for." Takano nods his head at me when I hand him the papers. I give him a closed eye smile, then turn away.
"Wait, Alex. Can I ask you something?" I turn back around towards Takano. No one but us we're in the office at the moment. Kisa and Onodera went to go and meet with an Author, Mino is with Yokozawa and Hatori is bringing documents to Yoshino.
"Sure, what is it?" I run my hand through my short hair and smile at him. He crosses his arms and stares at me, his eyes locked on mine.
"Did something happen at the party?"
My smile instantly drops from my face. I bring my arm down and stare at him.
"Nothing happened. Why do you say that?" He gets up and walks towards me. He stops when he's just a few feet away from me. I turn my eyes to the left.
"I know something happened, Alex. Onodera told me." I can feel his gaze on me, trying to be intimidating. I shake my head.
"Nothing happened-"
"If it was nothing, then why did you cry like that?" I look behind me to see Onodera standing there, Kisa leaning on the doorway behind him. I sigh, of course they will be here.
"Like I said before: it's nothing." I say. I'm starting to get a little irritated now.
Kisa walks up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder. On instinct, I flinch. Kisa looks at me, his eyes narrowed.
"'Nothing' doesn't make you flinch." He says. I sigh and push his hand away. Onodera walks over to me and looks me in my eyes. I stare straight back, my face free of any emotion.
"You flinched like that at the party too." He says, crossing his arms. I narrow my eyes.
"So? I can't help it if I flinch." I cross my arms too. Takano speaks up behind me.
"Something must've been wrong for you to flinch the way you did."
I glare at him and clench my fists. He stares straight back at me, his gaze never leaving mine.
You know what? I don't need this. I turn away from him and push pas Kisa and Onodera. Before I can get to the doorway, I feel someone's hand on my shoulder. I turn my head and glare at Onodera from the corner of my eyes.
"Look, if something is bothering you-" before he can finish, I yank my hand away. My irritation getting the best of me.
"I said it was nothing!" I snap. Everyone's eyes get wide and I instantly cover my mouth with both my hands.
They've never heard me yell at them before. I take a step backwards, my hands shaking.
"I-I'm sorry! I d-didn't mean t-to.....you know what? I'm just gonna go, I have work to do anyway!" I say quickly. Before anyone could say anything else to me, I run out the room.
I can't believe I just yelled at them! I'm such an idiot! I bite my lip and rub my arm as I step onto the elevator.
There's no doubt they think something is wrong now. I sigh and rub my wrist, right over the bruise Auska gave to me the night before.
I sigh and press the button on the elevator. I don't want them to see this side of me.
