Sophomore Year

"Would you like to introduce yourself to the class?" Harry's new teacher asks. Harry's English class was full, so he got moved up into English honors since it was an easy class for him.

Harry is fidgeting greatly because he can feel everyone's eyes on him as he speaks with his teacher.

"Um, no I'm good." Harry mumbles and the teacher gets up, looking around the classroom but Harry keeps his eyes down at the floor, too scared to look up.

"Um, there's lots of empty seats so you can go wherever." He says and Harry mentally curses him. He hates making these type of decisions.

He looks to the back of the room for empty chairs but there's none so then he looks for a chair where other people aren't near it. Harry starts his way over to one that was near the left wall of the room.

"Harry!" Louis says when he sees the boy going in the opposite direction from where Louis sat. Harry's eyes snap over to him with a curious look, Harry hadn't seen him.

Then again Harry was not looking at his peers.

Louis gestures him over to the empty chair next to him and Harry begins his way over, biting his lip to bite back his grin. Harry takes a seat next to Louis and Louis smiles brightly.

"How come you switched to honors?" Louis asks and Harry looks up at Louis' happy smile.

"My normal English class was full and I'm pretty good at English." Harry says and Louis knocks his arm with Harry's.

"So am I. Probably the only subject in school I'm good at." Louis says and Harry looks down and chuckles softly as Louis gazed at him with a smile.

Harry was a very cute boy, in Louis' opinion.

For the rest of the period they're quiet, simply doing their work. Louis finishes, and he sits back, his eyes focusing in on Harry that was still scribbling down his answers.

Louis has learned a lot about Harry by just watching him. Harry's shy, he likes to be alone, a bit oblivious to the harms of the world and the people around him but it's quite endearing if you asked Louis.

But the biggest thing Louis noticed is Harry is sad. He's not sure if Harry even knows Harry's sad. But if he does know the boy is good at trying to hide it, Louis will give him that.

But Louis sees every moment when the boy goes to smile and say something only to be talked over, that beautiful breath taking smile disappears and is replaced by an awkward look. When he rushes a bit to get his lunch just so he will have a space to sit at Liam's table, only to leave a few minutes later because no one is talking to him.

"Earth to Louis." Louis hears Harry's teasing voice. Louis snaps out of his thoughts, looking to Harry who's cheeks seemed a bit brighter and Louis realizes he had been staring.

"Sorry." Louis mumbles and Harry grins, just a tinge of pink still on his cheeks.

As selfish as it sounds, Louis is kind of glad he's the only boy that gets to see Harry's pretty, real smile.
