summer before freshman year of college
"I don't wanna go." Harry mumbles, trying to put on his deodorant as angrily as he possibly could. Louis quirks an eyebrow at him through the bathroom mirror, taking his toothbrush out of his mouth.
"You're the one who said yes." Louis mentions. Harry whines.
"Because I don't know how to say no!" Harry says. Louis rolls his eyes.
"Well you made your bed. Lay in it baby." He says and kisses Harry's cheek as he walks out of the bathroom.
After their house warming party Zayn and Liam has asked if they could all hang out again and Harry said yes. Accidentally. He is really bad at saying no.
So here they are a week later, heading to Zayn's parent's lake house to hang out. For an entire day.
Harry doesn't know if he can make it through a whole day.
"Come on babe!" Louis calls. Harry huffs, grabbing some other things and following Louis out the door.
It's quite a drive, about forty five minutes.
Halfway through, Louis can tell Harry is getting antsy. He reaches out, rubbing Harry's thigh.
"You okay love?" He asks, Harry wiggles in response, shrugging. Louis sighs, reaching into the backseat.
"Thought you might get antsy. Brought your weighted blanket baby." Louis mumbles and throws the blanket onto Harry. Harry gives him an appreciative smile.
"What would I do without you?" Harry asks. Louis smiles at that, reaching a hand out to grab Harry's.
Like magic, Harry instantly feels calmer, his anxiety didn't go away completely but it wasn't an intense. He's not sure what's more magical, the blanket or Louis being such a good boyfriend he knew Harry would need something to calm down.
"I love you Lou." Harry says and squeezes Louis' hand. He sees Louis smile, his eyes never leaving the road.
"I love you too baby. You're going to be okay. Just remember they're doing this to make amends with you, because you guys used to be close but they messed up. You were friends once and can be again." Louis says and then adds on; "Not that you're obligated to make amends, but you said yes so that makes me think a part of you does want to." Louis asks. Harry sighs.
"I do. Especially with Liam, we were best friends since we were babies." Harry says. Louis smiles at that.
"Try and have fun okay?" Louis says and gives Harry's hand a squeeze. Harry sighs as he watches Louis' profile.
How lucky is he to have such an amazing man in his life?
