Chapter 24

Meliza bit her lip again “It’s been kinda quiet around the house, don’t ya think?” “Yeah, it has” She looked down “Well... It won’t be that way after long...” “Why not?” She took a deep breath “Because I’m pregnant” she whispered. Niall smiled.

“Really?” He asked, kissing her. Meliza kissed back softly “Yeah... You’re not mad? We’ve only been together a year...” She trailed off.  His eyes lit up slightly. “Of course I’m not mad! Are you alright?” he smiled, kissing her and putting his hands on her stomach. She rested her head on his chest and nodded “Yeah, I’m okay” she whispered. “Excited?” He asked. She shrugged a little “It hasn’t really sunk in.” “We are gonna be parents,” he beams. Meliza smiled softly up at him. He kissed her, and she kissed back softly. “I love you!” He grins. Meliza giggled “Love you too Nialler” He laughed, and she snuggled into him. “What room’ll we use?” “I dunno, I just found out last night.” Niall nods. Meliza kissed his cheek softly “We should be getting back...” Niall nods as Meliza stood, stretching. He picked her up bridal style and started to run, soon they were back. She giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Misty was downing her eighth cup of coffee, sitting in Liam’s lap on the couch while they waiting when Niall and Mel came back. Meliza, still slightly damp, was carried in by Niall, her face tucked into his chest. Misty raised an eyebrow, and she giggled softly “He threw us in the lake” she explained. “Ah. You guys okay?” She giggled again, looking up at Niall “Perfect” she smiled. “Why?” Misty took another drink of her coffee. Meliza bit her lip “Do you wanna tell them, or shall I?” she hummed, smiling when Niall sat down, staying tucked into him.

“You should,” Niall said, grinning. Meliza mumbled about him “Throwing her under the bus” before smiling softly. “I’m pregnant” she said, biting her lip. Misty’s jaw dropped. Liam grinned and stood up hugging her and Niall. Misty stayed on the couch, surprised. Meliza giggled and hugged him back before looking at Misty, biting her lip. Misty smiled slightly, “Congrats sis, Niall.” Meliza glanced at Niall before getting up and going to sit beside Misty “What’s wrong?” She shook her head and smiled,“Nothing, just surprised me, that’s all.” Meliza bit her lip, trying to figure out if Misty was being honest or not. Misty hugged her big sister tightly, getting up and going to her studio. Meliza followed her, closing the door softly. “Mist...” She said softly.

“Yeah?” Misty said softly, digging through her projects. “Talk to me” she said softly. “What’s there to talk about?” She asked, looking up momentarily. Meliza sat down “Something’s on your mind, and don’t tell me there isn’t.” Misty shook her head, sitting down on her art stool. “I’m really happy for you guys,” she said softly. Meliza took her sister’s hand “Then what’s wrong?” She bit her lip. “Nothing.” Meliza raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. Misty shrugged, and Meliza pouted. She glanced up at Meliza with her eyes, biting her lip.”Come on sis, talk to me” she whispered. Misty mumbled a response, barely hearable. “You’ve got a kid on the way… I won’t see you as often.” Meliza couldn’t help but giggle a little. “Mist, come off it. You know you’ll be around even more now. You love kids” “Yeah, but…” She frowned, stopping herself. “But what?” Meliza asked softly. “You’ll be even more busy…” She stopped again. Meliza sighed softly “You think I won’t have time for you?” she guessed. She nodded slightly, biting her lip. Meliza went and sat in Misty’s lap. “Sissy, you know that’s not true” she whispered. Misty stared at her, causing Meliza to sigh softly. “Even with a baby on the way, you’ll probably spend more time with me than you do now. So far you’ve just been settling down living here with Liam” she soothed.

Misty nodded slightly. Meliza hugged her sister tight “I give you my word” she said, holding out her pinkie. Misty linked her pinky with Meliza’s before hugging her sister tightly and hiding her face in Meliza’s shoulder. Meliza rubbed her back; she never broke a pinkie promise, ever. That was sacred to her. Misty curled close to her sister, looking at her. “I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, will you come with me?” Meliza smiled at her “Of course I will.” She nods. “It’s for my nightmares..” Meliza nodded “I’ll be there, what time?” “Seven. In the morning.” Meliza pouted but smiled afterwards, nodding “I’ll make Niall wake me up. Our normal doctors office?” “Yeah. That’s them.” She smiles slightly. Meliza nodded again “In that case, we’d better be going so I can get enough sleep; you know how I am” she joked. Misty nodded, and Meliza kissed her forehead “I love youuuuuuuuuuuu” She giggled. “Love you too sissy,” Misty mumbled. “Smile” Meliza pouted. Misty laughed a little and stood up. Meliza crossed her arms, pouting more “A real smile” she grumbled. Misty cracked and smiled widely hugging her big sister tightly. Meliza giggled softly and hugged her back “Atta girl” she smiled. Misty held on for a moment  before letting go. “You should be heading home..” Meliza pecked her sister’s cheek lightly “I’ll see you tomorrow, bright and early. I need to find a doctor anyways” Misty smiled. “Yep!” Meliza waved at her, giving her the ‘I’m watching you’ gesture before walking happily down to Niall. Niall took her hand and walked out the door, driving home with her.
