Chapter Four - Sage's POV

Monday - 25th March

"Sage, time to wake up." I hear someone say, their warm breath next to my ear making me groan and turn over in my bed. My face now buried in my pillow.

"Go away." I mutter, pulling the blanket up over my head to block out the light.

"Nope, you have to get up." I hear the same voice again.

"Why?" I whine, which is quite un-alpha like for me, although, I couldn't care less I planned to sleep in as long as possible. Since I had stayed up late last night having a Big Bang Theory marathon. It was Bethany's favourite television show.

I feel some poke my shoulder followed by a snigger. "Get up or I'll dump a bucket of water on you."

"Do that and you die." I mumbled, curling up into my blanket with a sigh. I opened one eye to see who was standing in my room, it was Mason, Beta Paul's oldest child. His brown hair spiked up with gel, and his lanky body bent over me as he poked my shoulder again. His green eyes glinting with mischief.

"You really want to kill your future Beta?" He questions with a laugh.

"I will if it allows me to sleep in for another hour or two." I replied. "Plus, I think Ember would be a better Beta than you."

"No way!" Mason exclaims, a scowl on his face. Obviously he wasn't happy that I had pointed out that I thought his younger sister by one year was better than him.

"I also prefer Ember over you." I added with a smirk. "She's not as annoying as you."

"Okay, now your just being mean." Mason states, prodding my shoulder again.

I untuck my arm from my blanket and punch Mason in the gut. "Stop poking me you idiot!"

"Ouch, that hurt!" Mason cries, a fake wounded expression on his face.

"It was meant to dumb-ass," I mutter.

"Stop calling me names!"

I snort, "what are you going to do about it pup?" I was downright insulting Mason, the term pup is what we call the newly shifted - but Mason is one year older than me, so the term was considered an insult.

"This."

I frown, curious as to what he meant, but seconds later I realised as I felt my blanket being ripped off me followed by cold water being dumped into my body. I jerked up suddenly, my teeth already beginning to chatter as I was exposed to the cold air.

I turned my head to glare at Mason, who stands with the sneakiest grin I've ever seen in my life plastered onto his face. He could actually looked like a clown if you painted his face white and put red lipstick on his lips. Although he'd be a creepy clown and probably give kids nightmares... Actually, he'd give me nightmares.

"You got any last words?" I ask through gritted teeth.

"Um, I have a wife and a kid back at home so you can't kill me?" Mason offers weakly seconds before he drops the bucket and sprints out of my room.

Had I not been annoyed I probably would have laughed, but instead I snarled and launched myself off my bed after him. Almost slipping as water dripped onto the floors.

"You coward! Get back here!" I yell, my wet pyjamas sticking to my body; making it very uncomfortable to move in.

"No way, I don't plan on being slaughtered!" Mason yells over his shoulders as he sprints down the hall.
