5:00

my regular shift.

I began waitressing at my moms restaurant my junior year of high school just to get some extra cash for food and fun stuff. My plan was to graduate high school and leave my small town. It's been two years and I still work at the same restaurant. It's the same thing everyday. Nothing ever changes. Is this all I have to look toward to anymore? Sleeping in til 12, rolling out of bed, putting on jeans and a black work shirt, and serving bitchy customers with a fake smile on my face. There's got to be something more. There has to be.

And there was.
The day Shawn Mendes walked into the restaurant changed everything.

I had met him August of last year. I had 3 seconds with him. I hugged him and got my picture and that was it. With how tight money is, I figured I'd never see him again. I was a huge fan. And I prayed I would get to see him soon.

"Y/n! Kate just sat you at table 6." My mom shouted while I was prepping to take out table 10s order.

"Mom, that's not my section? That's Lisa's section?"

"You're going to want to take this one sweetheart."

"Okay." I said confused.

I took out table 10s order and went to go get table 6s drink order.

There sat Shawn and his best friend Brian.

"Hi, my names y/n, and I'll be your server today. What can I get you to drink?" I smiled. I had to play it cool. I can't be the crazy fan girl I really am. Then he'll ask for an older waiter who has no idea who he is.

"A lemonade for my friend and a sweet tea for me." Shawn smiled.

"Coming right up!" I smiled while walking away.

"Wait, you look familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" Shawn asked.

"Uhm I met you last August. But I don't think you'd remember that?" I laughed.

He smiled. "I remember you. How could I forget. You were shaking the whole time and your orange hair offset your picture so it came out orange."

I chuckled, I was surprised he remembered.

"Yeah, that was me. It's nice to see you again, Shawn."
"It's nice to see you too. Do you want to sit with us?" He asked me.
"I would love to! But I have tables, I'm sorry." I said sadly.
"Lisa will cover your tables. Sit with the boy." My mom said as she walked by me.
I chuckled.
"Okay." I sat by Shawn.

Brian eventually left. Shawn and I and talked until Andrew called him and said the tour bus was about to leave. I got to know him a lot better than I did before on a fan level. When you're a fan, you only know stuff that he's said in interviews. But when you get to know him as a friend, he tells you so many great stories about his life.

I cashed Shawn out, and told him to have a good rest of his tour. We took a selfie and he hugged me.

I went to bus his table and noticed a $50 dollar  tip and a piece of paper with his number written on it. I chuckled and reminded myself to text him once my shift ended.

I posted the selfie on twitter with the caption "look who came in to the restaurant today!😍😍 @shawnmendes"

My mentions blew up.
@shawnfan: dude what!!
@fanofshawn: so jealous!!
@shawnmendes: stay in touch!! I gave you my number for a reason 😉😉😉
@randomshawnfan: bitch did what
@bestfriend: date that hot motherfucker!!

I guess it's safe to say, everything is not the same anymore.

--- I work in a restaurant in a really small town. Have I wished this would happen? Duh! But it will forever only be an imagine. 😂😂 hope you liked it!
