"I'm not wearing that Justice! Naomi, tell her she's crazy. Someone help me out here!" I cried looking at my reflection in the mirror.
My lightly curled hair draped down my back, an Aztec crop top with multiple vibrant colors and a tall collar revealed my stomach to the slightest.
Slutty.
My black skinny jeans were WAY too tight. Shaping you know what.
Slutty.
My aquamarine wedges made me look like I was 25.
Need I say, slutty altogether.
"You look fiiiinneee." Naomi purred smiling as her and Justice sat on my bed.
They both had insisted, against my own will, to come super early this morning and get me ready for school.
"It's full proof. You have a nice car, cute clothes, and the right attitude. Guaranteed to throw off Marissa." Justice replied smiling and flipping through a magazine.
"This better be worth it." I mumbled tearing my eyes away from my reflection and looking around for my purse.
"It will work. I know what I'm doing. Now let's go. You have an impression to make." Justice said standing and beckoning me towards the door.
"Good luck." Naomi whispered in my ear, squeezing my arm for support. I nodded meekly and straightened up.
We all walked towards the door. As I opened it, sitting out in the driveway in his sleek, black, BMW convertible was none other than Jake himself.
"What is he doing here?!" I scream-whispered looking at Justice.
"Listen, he is the second most popular guy in the ENTIRE school. And you guys are close friends. Closer than close, in fact. He's your ride." Justice snickered as he waved.
I had to admit, he looked pretty good.
In black jeans and a black shirt, his hair tousled, I couldn't help but smile.
"If this isn't going to work out, I blame my death on you." I mumbled grinning largely and strolling towards his car, pulling on my sunglasses.
"Ready to go?" he asked casually.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I said as he opened the passenger for me. I climbed in carefully as he closed the door behind me.
You know guys are about their cars.
I don't think we would be friends if I ruined it.
Are we even friends?
Maybe.
I dunno anymore.
The awkward silence in the car filled the air as he continually tapped his fingers against the steering wheel.
I fumbled with the bracelets around my wrist and looked out the window.
"So.. You're coming to the party this weekend after the game?" he asked casually.
"Yeah. I'm looking forward to it." I said grinning meekly and shrugging.
"Was that sarcasm?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
"It didn't intentionally come out that way." I said avoiding his eyes.
"Listen, why are you going through all this trouble? Just to get back at Andy? He isn't worth your time." Jake says looking at me.
"I guess I just want Marissa to know how it feels to be tossed out. Forgotten. I want to get her back for being better, by being the best." I exclaimed throwing my arms in the air.
