Elena sighed a little looking at her hands in his, and then at him, then pulling them out. "I don't know how I feel. I just- I like you. I really do- but- everything inside of me is just- so-"
"Of course- I am sorry that I made you uncomfortable." Elijah now said.
"You didn't. Really- ok-"
There was a knock at the door and the footman apologized for interrupting, but it was time for her to get to her first meeting with Alaric, and Elena now got up, giving Elijah a little nod and leaving the dinning room.
Elijah drank some more of the blood cursing himself for having pushed his feelings out. Not that he wanted to hide them, but as he said it seemed to have made her even more uncomfortable like he was forcing her to shoot her heart out, when he heard it beat confusingly. And he knew that her kissing him the night before was to make her aching heart better. He was very much aware of it, but he had also heard that heart of hers jump up sweetly every time she talked to him the week before the wedding ceremony when they went for a ride in the woods, when he would tell her about himself, his like and dislikes, the way he saw the world.
Flashback
Two days before the wedding ceremony- they were meeting for the ceremony rehearsal
Elijah entered the Fell's Church walking in . Elena was with Bonnie at the round altar. Bonnie was telling exactly how she had to put the flowers down on the altar. Elena playfully mimicked theatrically the ancient ways of the ceremony. Hearing him enter the vast hall, she turned to see him walk down to the altar and she had a smile on her eyes beaming dearly at him. As it was in the moment as she placed her hand in his that her heart leapt up and she didn't look at him with eyes of a stranger.
"Good morning" Freya's voice made him snap out of his thoughts.
Elijah looked up at his sister giving her a little smile. As she sat down, she was served food even thous she actually was a vamp-witch, but only took blood once a day, but not at breakfast.
"How are you today?" the asked her brother.
"Fine." Elijah replied.
"So scared me yesterday." Freya said.
"In the end all turned well. Anyway, does Sophie know anything more?"
"She does," Freya replied,"it's an ancient poison that was known and use during the Silas reign."
"That goes back 5000 years back. Who has knowledge from the Silas reign?"
"We are still in the dark there. Vincent has called- Klaus is setting up a meeting with the clans down south."
"I thought he would." Elijah said not surprised.
"I have more news on Tristan de Martel" Freya continued.
