Caroline walked in the Prison cellars where Tyler was kept.
"Hey"Caroline said to her boyfriend.
"Hey" Tyler said back.
By the mellow and pained look on the blond vampire, the hybrid knew that she now knew all that played out with him and his family, which was not surprising as she was the Queen's best friend.
Caroline put the hand through the bars reaching out for him. "I am so sorry- about - I still don't get it that you are-"
"Tobias Fell's son?! Neither can I" Tyler said.
"Huh, yeah and -" Caroline started and he now shushed her.
"What's gonna hapoen?" Caroline continued worried.
"What do you think?" Tyler replied."It's an act of treason. And you know that the penalty is death."
"No- they can't kill you! Elena is never going to let that happen." Caroline was now shaking realizing the severity of the situation.
"Elena not, but the Queen has to" Tyler said.
"Nooo" Caroline was now crying gripping her boyfriend with both hands, them both clunging to one another not caring that the magic current of the bars were burning their flesh.
In the Castle, Elena was still restless trying her best to put things in perspective.
"You know that I will have to have them killed" Elena said."Mason was my bodyguard. I trusted him. He had gone through all the tests and didn't fail. And what will happen to Tyler- Caroline will never forgive me if - I can't even think about it."
Elijah tried to calm her down. "Tyler Lockwood came forward- doesn't this count for some leniency?"
"Yes. He will stay imprisoned forever," Elena said,"it is the law- and I know the law very well. I am in a nightmare that just keep sinking deeper and deeper. Days like this make me wanna be born in a peasant family and just live a small, normal life."
Elijah understood the way she felt. Their lives were everything but simple. There was not a waking moment when they could let go of duty and responsibility that their station and rank required.
"Please, don't get this wrong, but I need to be alone for a while. I have to think. Thank you" She placed a kiss on his cheek went out of the room into a side room opening a mock door in the wall that led to secret stairway up to an attic. This was a place she would often escape when she was a little girl and play. Now, this place seemed to be like a sanctuary she needed to detach herself from her role as a Queen, and once again just be Elena, a young female vampire, not burdened with all the Crown carried. She opened a window and got out on the roof area looking at the beautiful vast green in front of her.
