When I get to the front desk I see Cameron. He keeps running his fingers through his hair. He's freaking out. They're trying to calm him.
"Shauna," Rain says.
I look over to him. He motions me over. He's near Cameron. I walk over to them.
"Cameron," I say calmly.
I put my hand on his back. He's breathing really heavy.
"Cameron, look at me," I say.
He does and I see his blue-ish hazel eyes. There's a bruise. I'll worry about it later. But right now he's all worked up.
I take him by his hand and we start walking down an empty hallway that leads to a back exit.
When we get to the end of the hall he leans against the wall and slumps to the ground. Ending in a sitting position with his knees pulled up to his chest.
I sit next to him and put my arm around him. He leans his head on my shoulder.
"It's going to be okay," I say.
"I-I forgot the meds this morning," he says.
"Cameron. I know. And it's okay. It's one time. We all make mistakes," I say.
"I'm sorry," he says.
"Cameron. You have absolutely nothing to be sorry about," I say.
"I have a lot of things to be sorry for," he mutters.
"Like what?" I say.
"This," he says.
He then picks his head up and points to the shiner that I saw earlier.
"Who did that?" I ask.
I then rub his shoulder with my hand. Whoever did this I'm going to kill. He lays his head back down.
"Sara," he says.
"Cameron. Did she do anything else to you?" I ask.
He nods. He starts shaking nervously. Tears start to form in his eyes.
"Cameron, how long has this been going on?" I ask.
"Th-three m-months," he stutters, "I-it started w-with j-just name calling. Sh-she said..."
"Cameron, take a deep breath," I say, "It's okay."
He takes a couple deep breaths.
"She called me," he says and breathes again, "Stupid, worthless, ugly, bitch-"
"Cameron, stop there. That's enough," I say.
I don't need to hear everything she's called him. I just needed to know a few.
"Anything that she says about you. Anything at all. All the bad names she calls you. They mean nothing. You're not worthless, stupid, ugly or a bitch," I say, "She's a bitch."
He grins a little at this.
"How many times has she hit you?" I ask.
This could be very much more serious then just a black eye.
"She kicked me," he says.
"Where?" I ask.
"My stomach and ribs," he says.
"Cameron, look at me," I say.
He does and I'm introduced to his blue-ish hazel eyes again.
"I'm going to get to the bottom of this. Why she did it. But for now, I'm going to take you home and take the rest of the day off. Maybe you can even invite some friends over," I tell him.
I then kiss the top of his head. Where's his hat? Ummm okay? Did it just walk away?
