October 26, 2011

With her barely visible bump hidden underneath her silk nightgown, Catalina woke up to an empty bed once again.

Sighing softly as she knew that she had brought this upon her, she felt absolutely terrible about the fact that Fernando, who already had had a few back issues before, had been sleeping on the couch for the last month, in order to give her some space, thinking that it would do their relationship much good.

In reality, it was only stressing it even more. Nando was quieter; more reserved; not himself anymore. He was trying his best to give her what she needs in the form of time when actually all that she needed was her best friend and boyfriend back.

Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she trudged outside to the living room, her heart breaking in her chest at the sight of Fernando sprawled in an uncomfortable position, seeing as someone with his height should never sleep on a five-foot couch.

His face contorted in a frown, Catalina's soft side couldn't help but bring tears to her chocolate eyes at the terrible sight, and, seeing as Nora had not woken up yet, shook him awake.

"Nando?" she whispered.

Grumbling a bit in his sleep, he curled himself up in a ball, causing her to frown.

"Mi amor," she mumbled, shaking him slightly.

Slowly but surely, Fernando started to flutter his pretty little Spanish eyes open.

Staring at her ever so distantly yet ever so lovingly, Fernando thought that he was looking at angel; pregnancy glows definitely suited Catalina.

"Buenos días," his deep morning voice rumbled as she bit her lip nervously.

"Why are you sleeping on the couch?" she asked in a soft voice.

Rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, he couldn't help but express his idea, "I thought maybe if I gave you more space you would forgive me."

Perhaps it was because of the raging hormones, perhaps it was because of her unconditional love for the twenty-seven year-old that so painfully lay in front of her, Catalina gulped back tears as she smashed her lips against his familiar, inviting ones; the ones that she had missed so dearly.

His eyes wide open with shock, Fernando was beyond surprised. He had thought that it would've taken a lot more than that to get their relationship back on track.

Sweetly pressing their skin flush against each other, Nando rested one hand against their impending child, the other at the nape of her neck, embracing her tightly.

Pulling back only a few minutes later, Fernando rested the skin of her forehead against his, whispering softly.

"No matter what happens, I promise I won't let jealousy get in the way of my love."

"As long as you promise that we will always talk it through, and never think that backing off is ideal, okay?" Catalina bargained, staring deep into the muddy pits of his chocolate eyes.

"I promise, mi reina."
