"Hey love!" Elizabeth runs up to me and hugs me tightly, pulling me close. She smells of vanilla beans and sunshine.
"Hi there. So I'm guessing the driving went fine?"
"Of course! You're so lucky that if you pass tomorrow you get to take your actual test Friday with your birthday!" Oh yeah. If I pass my drive tomorrow I'm allowed to go take a shot at the actual test since I'm turning 16. Thank gods I have people to remind me of these things. I smile and grab her hand walking down the hall.
"So after school I do have piano lessons and then tonight I have a special dinner planned out for the two of us. So I'll pick you up at 6. That good?"
"Sounds perfect." She smiles squeezing my hand as we walk into the cafeteria.
Lunch time is always the most important part of the day, sorta. It is where you catch up on everything of course. We walk over to our table in the middle of the cafeteria. We have sat here since freshmen year so no one questions it. Ryan and his boyfriend sit there along with a couple other guys on the swimming team and a my friends. As soon as we sit down the gossip begins to spill.
"So you see that new guy over there? Totally hottie right? Well he is straight, his girlfriend lives a town over. They say he moved here so they could get help with his problem." Robert starts out. Robert always knows what's up with the school. He is the captain of the swim team. He is built pretty well and stands at 6'1, with his beach blonde hair he almost looks like Elizabeth's twin.
"Oh no, better stay away from him then don't want to turn straight" Ashley laughs. Ashley is my other best friend next to Liz. She is one of the prettiest girls in our grade. She has black curly hair and dark brown eyes with practically snow white pale skin. She always wears her black frame glasses and a black choker with a music note on it. Her fashion consists of mainly black clothes but I have managed to squeeze in blue jeans and some colorful sweaters.
"Guys come on. You should give the kid a break for all you know those are just rumors and you know how that goes." I smile slightly trying not to sound to supportive.
"Exactly Vi is right and if he is straight what's the problem? He could make a great friend anyways." Ryan flashes a comforting smile at me but i can tell he knows what he just did, defending a straight person could turn you into a social outcast.
Elizabeth looks at me and hands me a small box. "Enough about that. Happy one year baby" She kisses my cheek and returns to eating as I look down at the gift.
