Ash's POV
We
all practised until it was Johnny's turn. Since he was so caught up in
his music, I took this opportunity to tell the others to stay back for a
bit after rehearsals. I shifted over to Johnny's seat and tapped Rosita
on the shoulder. 'Hey, Rosita.' I whispered. Rosita heard me and turned
to me. 'Yes Ash?' She asked in her motherly voice. 'Can you stay back
after rehearsals? Tell the others too. But don't tell Johnny.' I
requested. She looked confused but head what I said.
*after rehearsals*
'Alright
everybody you are now dismissed!' I heard Buster shout. Since the word
had spread already, none of us left the theater as soon as they usually
do. Johnny then touched my shoulder. 'Need me to drive you back? Seems
like Lance is still outside.' He said, giving the theater exit/entrance a
glance. 'Um.. No thanks Johnny, my err, mother is going to pick me up.'
I lied. 'Oh! OK then. See you tommorow?' He asked. 'Yeah, see you
tommorow.' I replied. All of us waited patiently, until we saw Johnny's
black truck speed past the theater doors. 'So Ash, what did you want to
tell us?' Gunter asked, jumping a little. I wonder where all of Gunter's
energy came from.... 'First of all thank you for staying back with me.
And to answer your question, I need all of your help to plan a birthday
party for Johnny.' I explained. 'A birthday party?' I heard Meena ask
excitedly. 'Mm hm! In two days time, which is next Monday, will be
Johnny's 19th birthday and I was planning to throw him a surprise
birthday party!' I exclaimed, excitement rushing through me. 'And I have
made a small plan.' I added, opening my guitar case and taking out the
rolled piece of paper. I unrolled it and held it where everyone can see.
'Wait, so you're gonna ask Nana to give you some money to bail Johnny's
dad out?' Buster asked. I rubbed my arm sheepishly. 'Yeah, I know it's
practically impossible but I at least gotta try.' I said, determined.
'Well, I'll drive you to Nana's place. Seems like a certain someone is
still waiting outside for you.' Buster said, pointing towards the door.
This made giggles escape our mouths but I just groaned. 'Let's get going
now, bye guys!' I waved. 'Bye!' They shouted back. Me and Buster headed
towards his car and headed off to Nana's.

Ash's POV
I
knocked on the door and stood back a little. I waited for the door to
open but nothing happened. Then, we saw a head peek out which we
recognised as Eddie. 'Hey Eddie!' Buster greeted, walking up to hug his
old friend. 'Hey Buster! Ash!' Eddie greeted, opening the doors for us.
'Hi Eddie. Is Nana in there?' I asked. 'Yeah, why?' He fixed me with a
curious stare. 'I need to ask her a favour...' I trailed off. 'Well,
come in, I'll take you to meet her.' Eddie said, bowing and signaling
for us to go in. We all laughed at Eddie's gesture and proceeded to step
into the huge mansion. Eddie led us up a flight of stairs before we
entered some kind of hall, and Nana was sitting on a royal looking
chair, sipping some, what I assume to be, tea. Nana caught sight of us
and stood up, her long dress flowing behind her. I glanced over my
shoulder and saw that Eddie and Buster had left, to catch up probably,
leaving me here alone with Nana. 'My dear child, what has brought you
here today?' She asked, smiling. I felt a bit nervous and rubbed my neck
before answering. 'You see Nana, I've come here to ask you a favour.' I
replied. 'A favour?' She repeated, sitting back down in her chair and
sipped in her tea. I helped myself onto one of the chairs too. 'Yes. I
need to....loan some money from you to bail Johnny's dad out.' I said.
'Why on earth would you want to bail criminals out my dear?' She asked,
putting down her tea and looked genuinely surprised. 'Next Monday is
Johnny's birthday and he used to always celebrate it with his
father...until now. He said that he really misses his father and it
won't be another year until his father can get out of jail. And, I
wanted to help him, but I don't have that much money myself to bail them
out.' I replied solemnly. 'So you want to help your "friend" hm?' She
asked, highlighting the friend, for god knows why. 'Well, if that's
really your intention, then you'll have my approval.' She smiled,
handing me a cheque. 'Here, this should be enough to get them out of
jail.' She paused. 'But, my dear, I have to ask you for something in
return.' She finished. I immediately felt my heart rate go up. What is
she gonna make me do? Before I went into extreme panic mode, she placed
her hand on my shoulder and said: 'Promise me you'll visit soon? That
grandson of mine can't even play a good game of checkers with me.' She
said with a groan. I silently heaved a sigh of relief and smiled. 'Of
course I'll visit soon.' I gave a small chuckle before waving goodbye to
her. Nana has really warmed up to us since the concert.
Nana's POV
I
watched as that porcupine rocker, known as Ash, waved to me and walked
away. I knew that her intention was to help, but I'm guessing that she
has a crush on that gorilla, Johnny. Honestly, they will make a good
couple. I couldn't help but to smile to myself as I recalled I did the
same thing for my husband when I was her age....
Yasss!
We have Nana on board the ship! Woo! Lol. I'm so glad that you guys
like this story, it means so much to me and I'll see you on the next
chapter. Peace!
