Ashton's Pov:

Throughout the entire day I couldn't stop thinking about Nate asking me if I wanted to hang out. That wouldn't count as a date right? No, it's not a date. Just a normal friends hanging out type thingy. I don't know. But wait! Where are we gonna go? We can't stay at my house in case my dad comes home. I don't know his parents and what about Dylan?

I got into my brothers car after school. Immediately he asked, "what's wrong? You always sign something when you get into the car?"

I continued to look down not want to meet his eyes. "Ash. Please tell me.." I didn't sign a word the entire way home. Once we got home I went up to my room and didn't come out.

"Ash can I come in?" Dylan asked. I knocked on my wall three times to indicate that he could come in. "Listen I wanna make a deal. Okay?" I nodded. "If you tell me what's up.. I'll tell you something that I haven't told anyone.." he blushed. "Deal?"

'Deal' I signed.

"You first.." he said

'A boy named Nate asked me to hang out with him tonight. I think he thinks it's a date..' it was my turn to blush and I did.

"You gonna??" He jumped up and down.

'I wanna but that's up to you really. What if dad comes home?' I signed.

"Ash listen the chances of dad coming back are slim. He's probably with some girl somewhere having the time of his life. Completely forgetting about us. And if he comes home I'll have a note on the kitchen counter saying that we went to Ryan's house. Then I'll lock myself in my room and not come out. Okay?"

'Okay. Now what's something about you that I don't know?' I signed.

"Crap okay well.. please don't tell dad.. I'll really get it if he finds out, but.. I-uh.. Ash.. I'm gay.." he blushed and looked down slightly to avoid meeting my eyes.

I snapped to get his attention then signed. 'Really!!' I clapped and smiled to show that I was happy. Not angry.

"Yeah really. And there's someone that I like.." he trailed off.

'Oh my god really!!! Who!!?' I signed.

"His name's Noah and he's a senior at school with us.."

'Wait Noah Hawthorne?' I signed.

"Yeah you know him?" He asked.

'No just heard of him and seen him around. Is he gay as well?' I signed.

"I think so. I hope so. I don't know what to do honestly. Got any advice? I mean since you like guys and all.."

'Well just be yourself and don't try too hard to impress him. Like enough to where he notices. And don't do anything stupid!!' I smiled after signing this and he gave a small laugh and a stupid, cheesy smile.

"Okay well I'm gonna go to my room now. If you're going to "hang out" with Nate just tell me."

'We are just gonna hang out. Nothing else. God Dylan you have a bad mind!!' I signed. He left the room and I decided to text Nate. He did say to call him but I don't talk so that'd be a little hard.

I added a new contact named "Nate". I then started a new message with him.

(N=Nate A=Ashton)

A- Hey. It's Ashton.

N- Hey Ashton! I really didn't think you'd text.

A- I would call.. but I don't talk so that'd be a bit weird.

N- It's still nice to talk to you though! :)

A- Soooo about the whole hanging out thing?

N- oh yeah. Did you want to hang out?

A- sure it could be fun I guess

N- you don't sound to excited.

A- well I've learned not to get excited about things because it always ends up going wrong. Then I'm sad.

N- you shouldn't live life like that!! You've gotta have fun and be excited!!

A- everyone leaves so why get excited?

N- what do ya mean?

A- never mind

N- you can tell me, I'm trustworthy. I won't tell anyone I swear.

A- you're annoying ya know that?

N- yup, but it works. I'll annoy you until you tell me.

A- how do I know you won't tell?

N- you don't. It's all about trust. You don't know me very well. I could tell anyone which means you might not trust me. But I could tell no one which means you can trust me.

A- I guess.

N- sooo ya gonna tell me.

A- tell you what?

N- why you don't get excited.

A- when I was in 7th grade my mom left my dad, brother and I. I haven't seen her since. That's also when I stopped talking. Now my dad.. never mind.

N- Ash what's going on?

A- Nothing.

N- ok.. well how about you come over at 5 and stay till around 7. Would your dad be okay with that?

A- my brother. And yes. See you then I guess. Bye..

N- bye Ash.

'Why did I tell him all that?? Why does he care??' I laid facedown on my bed. Until my brother came in and asked, "are you going?" I nodded yes. Then signed that I'll be leaving at five and returning around seven.

I looked at the clock: 3:47. Uuuuggghhh. I set my timer for 45 minutes and decided to sleep for a bit before I went.
