23.

Nate's Pov:

I was so nervous that she wasn't going to like it. Dylan, Noah and I had literally been planning it all week. Yeah, she was suspicious about it, but we got away with it in the end despite her constant attempts to get one of us to crack.

Now we were all here, Dylan, Noah and I, and we had it all set up and ready for her.

"Okay Ash.. you can take off your blind fold." She did and started smiling from ear to ear.

"Oh.. my.. god.. Dylan! Noah!" She ran over and hugged them. Almost tripping over a tree branch in the process.

"Hey sis." Dylan said hugging her.

"Is this all for me?" She asked looking around. We set up a table with a small cake on it, some banners on the trees that were red and black, and a small radio playing music.

"Of course! You're the birthday girl!" Noah said.

"B.. but why..?" She walked up to me.

"It's your 16th birthday. We couldn't do anything overly spectacular, but we did the best we could." I said.

"Well, I love it!" She kissed me and I gladly kissed back. When we pulled apart she said, "thanks so much.. all of you..". I wrapped my arm around her waist.

"Are we gonna cut the cake or just stare at it for a while?" Dylan suddenly asked.

"Let's cut it!" I yelled. Noah went over and cut the cake before passing it out to each of us on red paper plates.

We all ate our piece of cake then talked and danced and sang until around 6:30. That's when I remembered we had to go. "Hey Ash, wanna go see a movie?" I asked.

"Sure! Which movie?" She asked me.

"Umm.. how about a scary movie?" I asked.

"Uh- sure.." she drifted off.

"Hey babe it's okay.. I'll be there, if you guys wanna come too you can?" I asked Noah and Dylan.

"Sure!" They said in unison.

Dylan, Noah, and I cleaned up the mess. Ashton kept trying to help, but I told her "you shouldn't have to clean up your own birthday party." She didn't like it, but didn't object either.

After we got done cleaning up and packing it all in my car, we all piled in. Ash an I in the front and Dylan and Noah in the back. I was driving.

"Can I turn on the radiooooo?" Ashton whined. 'God she's adorable!' I thought.

"Sure." I responded. She turned on the radio and "Can't Stop the Feeling' by Justin Timberlake blared through the speaker.

"Uhhhh I swear I hear this song a hundred times a day!" Ashton whined and changed the station. "Really?! Not this song too!" Dylan and Noah started to laugh at how frustrated she was getting. I knew how much "Hello" by Adele annoyed her, but she was so cute. Kinda like an angry bunny that's too cute to take seriously. Adorable.

Finally we found a station that wasn't playing music that annoyed my sweet girlfriend. But like always we pulled into the movie theater just as the song started. "Oh and about the theater.. it's a drive in theater.." I hesitantly told her. Her smile widened.

"Oh my god! I love drives ins!" She tried to hug me, but since we were in a car it was a bit weird.

"Is this why you brought your dads truck?" She asked. I nodded.

"It's so much fun to go to drive in movies and laying in the bed of a truck makes it better." I stated matter-of-factly.

"We gonna get out or not?" Dylan asked.

"Didn't you already buy tickets?" Noah asked.

"I'm gonna go give the guy our tickets you stay here." I got out, gave the guy our tickets and was back in no time. "Alright, let's get a good spot." We drove around until we found an empty space in the perfect place. Not so close that you have to crane your neck to see the screen, yet not so far that you can't really see. Perfect.

"Wanna go get snacks?" I asked after we parked and got everything situated.

"Sure!" Dylan and Ashton said in unison.

Noah and I gave each other a look that said, 'creepy'. Dylan and Ashton laughed.

I grabbed Ashton's hand as we started to walk. Noah grabbed Dylan's hand too. It was easy to tell that Noah was the more dominant one in their relationship. As Ashton would say, 'they're so cute.'

When we got to the concession stand we got some snacks. Ashton and I got a popcorn to share and a soda. Dylan and Noah each got a pack of m&m's and a soda.

We started walking back, Ashton and I hand in hand. Dylan and Noah too. We finally found my truck and I helped Ashton up, Noah and Dylan up made they're way up after.

Ashton cuddled up next to me, resting her head on my shoulder. Dylan did the same to Noah.

Just as we settled, two guys and their girlfriends walked by the truck. One of the guys a derogatory word.  The other guy said, 'freaking gays. I will never understand them!' in a joking matter.

One of the girls looked mad while the other laughed. "Hey!" Ashton yelled. "You think that's funny?!" She started to get up, but I held her down.

"What are you gonna do about it? Huh?..mute!" He muttered.

'I know that voice.. but from where.. Bruce!' "Leave her alone Bruce!" I said.

"Oh is it goth, and look he's got himself a girlfriend. Thought you were gay too. Oh!It's mute! Shoulda known. This just keeps getting better and better! So mute, is this gay your brother?" Bruce mockingly asked.

"Leave us alone!" Ashton yelled.

"It talks! Oh my god guys!" He acted surprised.

"Bruce come on lets go.. let's leave them alone.." one of the girls said. I was now standing up in front of Ashton. Dylan and Noah stayed back.

"Listen to your friend there. It'd be wise." I gave a fake smile. Ashton tried to get past me, but I couldn't let her.
"Babe, get back in the truck with Dylan and Noah. I can handle this." I said. She listened, but hesitantly. Dylan and Noah grabbed her to keep her back.

"Wow you got a feisty one there." Bruce said.

"Go. Away." I said through gritted teeth.

"Your lucky I have to go or else you'd be sorry." He walked away while trying to put his arm around his "girlfriend". She smacked his hand away and left. Good.

"You guys okay?" I asked as I got comfortable again, Ashton cuddling up next to me.

"Yeah.." Dylan and Noah said.

"Don't let it bother you guys. There will always be haters, but you both are happy together and honestly so cute together. Don't let them get to you. Nate and I accept you." Ashton said.

"Now let's enjoy this movie!" I said as the previews started.
