Kris

As October comes around the post season is getting closer and closer. And no matter how excited I am to make history it doesn't compare to the history I'm watching my baby make. She's into solid food and is already teething. Sure she's drooling all over the place, but it's cute when she does it.

The last regular season game is a win over the Reds and our record stands as the best in the league. All post season national league games will have to go through us. We don't really care how the games go, just how they end.

McKenzie is old enough to travel now, that means she's going to come with us on away games. She's over three months old and amazes me every day. She's a smart one and loves to cuddle, she gets that from her mother.

But we have to wait for traveling and the NLDS to start, so until then I'm going to enjoy the nice temperatures with my girls. We had a few of the guys over and their kids as I grilled and Kayla baked. I sat on the porch with Jason, Dexter, David, Anthony, Ben, Addi, and Joe as they help me cook.

"So are you excited to get married soon here" Joe asks.

"Yeah. I mean I don't believe I can love her and my life anymore but I'm sure I'll find a way" I chuckle.

"Well you guys already act like you're married" Anthony says picking a pepper off the girl and eating it.

"Feels like we're married" I admit.

"Are you guys going to have more kids. The more people like you two the better this world will be" Jason comments.

"Thanks Jace, we were talking about having another kid but never a date. Probably after the wedding" I shrug flipping a steak.

"I'm going to steal your baby" David announces as he messes with her tummy and she giggles along.

"I'm sorry but I cannot allow that. I'm kind of attached to her" I chuckle.

"Well she's adorable... and well dressed" David says fixing her cubs onesie.

"That was McKayla's doing" I defend and the boys laugh. I finish the food and we join the girls in the kitchen. McKayla made some sides and desserts and we were ready to eat. Everyone makes their plates and heads to the living room to watch the wildcard game. It was really just to hang out with the guys but we would be facing whoever won this anyway. Kayla was feeding McKenzie as the loudness continues around us. McKayla has been a great mother, and I know she's only doing some of this because she wants to be everything her own mother wasn't but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. She seems happy from what I can see.

"Need any help. Want me to feed you while you feed her" I ask and she giggles.

"Nope. I'm very capable of feeding her, and myself" she insists.

"If you need anything let me know" I say.

"Of course, thank you" she says kissing my cheek then returning to feeding Kenzie. Once she was done she puts her down for a nap and joins me on the couch once again. I wrap my arms around her and she wraps her hands around my arm. I kiss the top of her head as she leans it on my chest.

"I love you" I mumble.

"I love you too" she says back with a killer smile. Man am I lucky.

"You guys are so cute what the hell" Darya asks.

"She's my everything, what can I say" I shrug. We eat food and share laughs and enjoy the game. About the seventh inning the baby monitor goes off and I volunteer to get it. I make my way into her room where she wasn't crying but just babbling about who knows what. I pick her up with the biggest smile on my face and place her on my hip.

"What are you talking about" I ask and she replies incoherently.

"Well you want a story" I ask and she smiles back. I sit in the rocking chair and place her on my knee so she's facing me. I give her a teething ring and she happily sticks it in her mouth.

"I'll tell you the story about when I first met mommy. It was the first day in sixth grade and I had PE fourth hour, right before lunch. We had a free day and naturally I find myself at the diamond. A few of my friends I had from middle school were there with me but none of them were established pitchers. Not one pitch they threw made it past home plate. There were no tees around so I couldn't find a place to practice my swing. Then this sweet little girl with blonde hair and a backwards baseball cap picks up a ball and asks to join my friends and I. My friends laughed and her friends laughed along too. But I could tell by the way she picked up the ball that she knew what she was doing. I told them all to shut up and give her a chance and they listened. She wiped her fingers on the brim of her cap before stepping on the mound. She held the ball securely in her right hand and rested in front of her face, her bright eyes staring me down. She winds up bringing her knee to her chest then let's the ball sail. She hid the ball well enough that I couldn't read what the pitch was and I swung straight through it. It was a perfect strike painting the inside bottom corner. I look over to her and she was smiling, her perfect teeth showing that she loved to prove people wrong and she loved throwing a baseball. I asked her for her name and she responds with the softest voice. She gives me pointers on reading her pitches and I give her pointers on improving her swings, the rest is history. After that we went to lunch and we've been inseparable since. She started calling me Breezy and I called her Big Mac, and now here we are almost fourteen years later still going strong. Not a day goes by that I'm not thankful she picked up that baseball."

"That's beautiful" someone yells and I turn to see the baby monitor was still on.

"Ummm thanks" I laugh and they chuckle on the other end. I change her diaper and lay her back in the crib before heading downstairs. The game was over and the Giants won so that's who we will be facing. People trickle out until it's just McKayla and I. We clean up and the house looked good as knew.

"You explained it just as I remembered it" she mentions referring to earlier.

"Yeah, that was beautiful day huh" I tease.

"It was. I was so scared to be starting middle school. I already made a bunch of friends, but ones I knew wouldn't understand me and my situation. Then I see the boy who I've seen a few times and lived down the street from me with a bat in his hand and I watched your swing. Such a unique approach but your friends couldn't pitch to save their life. So I decided to help you out, my friends thought I was crazy. A girl pitcher? But I knew what I could do. I had the stuff and I had command so I don't see why I wouldn't be able to show off a little. The way you looked at me after that first pitch was priceless. I knew I could let you in at that moment, now the rest is history" she says wrapping her arms around my neck and I wrap my arms around her waist.

"So... about that second baby" I smirk. I pick her up and she wraps her legs around me. She kisses my neck and I melt as her lips connect with my skin. I didn't know much about life but I do know I love this women.
