Kris
The wedding is in a few days but you can't really tell. It's been pretty chill around here. All the things for the wedding has been set for months and we've just been enjoying our time with McKenzie. It gets really cold in Chicago and these Vegas kids like to stay inside as much as possible.
McKayla didn't want a bachelorette party but the girls insisted she do something so today they all went to the house and hung out. She insisted Kenzie was invited so she wouldn't have to go out in the cold. That meant I had to be out the house and the boys insisted to have a bachelor party no matter how many times I claimed I didn't want one.
I arrive at Anthony's apartment and can already hear how crazy this was about to be. And not stripper crazy, but like little boys trapped in grown men bodies with alcohol crazy.
"There's the man of the hour" he cheers pulling me in. I quickly realize this was just a excuse for everyone to get out of the house and have some guy time for reasons of their own. We might spend nine months out of the year together but we still miss each other. I didnt mind everyone just chilling because I never actually wanted a bachelor party, it's a bit too flashy for me.
"So what's the plan" I wonder.
"Well Vegas is out because you lived there so that's no fun" he laughs and I shrug. He wasn't wrong.
"And you've been with Kayla since you were a fetus so there's no point of trying to convince you that getting tied down is bad because you've been whipped since day one" David adds on. Again, not wrong.
"And I'm not sure what we're going to do. I just wanted to drink" Dexter admits holding up a beer. I hate that he's going to the Cardinals but I still love that man. We are going to miss him... but not too much.
"I guess I can make this fun... McKayla is pregnant" I announce and Jason nearly spits his drink out.
"Again" he asks.
"Yes. That's kinda how reproduction works" I laugh.
"Well I for one am excited for a chance to corrupt another kid" David cheers. Although he's retired, we all know he's not actually leaving. He couldn't if he tried.
"Yeah, McKenzie is already too smart for me" Anthony laughs.
"So Kris. You've won rookie of the year, MVP, the World Series, you have a great girl, an amazing baby girl, and are about to get married to your pregnant fiancé. Are you the happiest man in the world" Addison asks into a fake microphone before pointing it to me.
"I am" I reply assuredly and everyone cheers. I look around at all these guys who have been fathers and husbands for years. They love the game but their family comes first, they always come first.

I wake up the next morning like I always do, with a big smile on my face. That is until I turn around and see McKayla gone. The baby monitor was quiet and I look around. Everything was clean and organized, she must have been up for a while. I jump in the shower and change before heading downstairs. There's a huge "happy birthday" banner hanging at the bottom of the stairs and I smile to myself. Once my feet hit the cool hardwood I see McKayla dancing around in the kitchen with Kenzie beside her dancing around too. Kayla had a breakfast bar set up on a confetti filled table. There were balloons everywhere and 25 at the end of the island. She turns around and stops dancing when her eyes meet mine.
"Happy birthday" she cheers nearly flipping a pancake against the ceiling causing me to laugh.
"Thanks baby" I say coming over to kiss her. Honestly she was all I needed for a good birthday.
"I have breakfast fixed so help yourself" she encourages.
"Only if you join me" I pout and she lets out a dramatic sigh.
"Only if I have to" she jokes before trailing me. I enjoy a nice meal with my two favorite girls and take in these few days that are the calm before the storm.
"Am I supposed to be nervous for the wedding? Like everyone makes it a big deal but we've basically been married for like ten years" she laughs.
"I don't know. I don't get that either" I admit. We finish up breakfast then she insists I open her gift. I open a box and see a car key.
"What did you do" I ask and she smirks. This seemed too good to be true.
"Why don't you go look for yourself" she encourages. I go outside and see a minivan with a cubs decal on it.
"We're going to have two kids, you're a mini van driver now" she laughs patting my chest. I couldn't help but laugh because I always joke about being that dad who drove a minivan and now here I am. I come back inside and see McKenzie playing with the balloons as Kayla cleans up. I help her out and we eventually relax in the living room.
"So we're about to get married" she says looking at the tv.
"We are, then we get to go on a honeymoon and I won't have to worry about getting you pregnant" I joke and she smacks my chest.
"I'm kidding" I whine rubbing where she hit me.
"Well I can't wait, wherever we're going" she chuckles. I refuse to tell her where we're going until we are on that plane and away from anything she could possibly hang onto. The rest of the day we watch movie and eat popcorn, I appreciate the little moments like that.
