We arrive at the hospital. I held back the tears as much as I could. They wheel her into the emergency area and rush her into the surgical room. They don't let me past the surgery doors and they closed the curtains. I can't see her at all. I don't know how she is or how she is doing. I miss her and I want to know what is happening to her.
                        I call Adam.
He answers and I explain what happened and where I am.
"I will be there as soon as possible! Want anything?"
"I could really go for a frappe and fries."
"As you wish my sexy master." I hear him give a small laugh.
"Okay bye babe see you soon."
"Bye babe you too,"
I hang up and hear something like a small scream. I put it at the back of my mind. I know it isn't R's because she is probably under a medication or something. I hear foot steps closing behind me. Then arms fold around my waist and a head is placed on my shoulder.
"I brought you food baby"
I turn and kiss him gently and smile. Tears weld into my eyes and I start to cry. He hold me tight and I cry into his shoulder. The intercom says "Will Ralin's family and friends please make their way to room 401 thank you" I look up. Eyes puffy and red and tears still spilling from my eyes. I grab Adam's hand and wipe my eyes. We walk to the room and wait. They roll her into the room. I look at her face. It is stitched up on her left cheek and cut up on her right. She has a almost black eye and some of her hair is shaved off and has staples on a large most likely deep cut. Her hair is a little bloody. It blends into the blue of her hair. I cry into her gown and she makes a groan. She moves her head and falls back asleep. I cry harder. I press a button and ask the nurse if I can stay the night. She brings in a few more nurses and they talk for a minute. I hear them whisper about her needing a family member with her until she leaves the hospital. They leave the room and about five minutes later they roll in a twin size bed with the sheets and pillows nicely stacked on the end of the bed. They place it next to the large window in her singled room. I lay down and close the blinds. Adam left awhile ago.
We ate the food before he left. Nothing like cold fries and a very slushed coffee. I lay down and fall asleep almost immediately. The next morning R is awake and eating a fruit salad and a shake of some sort out of a straw and a metal cup. She looks sad yet satisfied. I sit up and push the blankets aside. I get up and walk over to her. Her eyes light up like candles. And she quickly leans forward and hugs me. I hear her make a small pained groan. She pulls away and she is crying. Looks like both happy and sad.
"Hey little sis."
"Hey brother."
"Did something happen when I fell asleep?"
"They came in and told me something."
"What was it?"
"I don't want to worry you."
"Tell me now."
"OKAY. They said that I wont be out of here for about a month and that I need a lot more surgery. They also want you to stay here with me until I leave."
"Okay. Then I will stay."
"Okay. Well they just gave me a bunch of medicine so I am tired as hell." She lays own and falls asleep. I walk out of the room and try to find the cafeteria. I finally find it on the 4th floor. They have a lot of different fridges. Full of a bunch of stuff. I grab a coke, a bag of chips, and a few other things. Pay. Then head up to R's room. She isn't even in there. The bed I slept on is still in there though. I walk down the hall and ask whats up. They said that when she feel asleep she had a heart issue that cannot be specified. The nurse said she would be back up in about two hours. She says she doesn't know if she will ever be able to do sports due to the amount of glass still in her system. They couldn't retrieve all of it or it could cause internal bleeding but they are trying to get as much out as they can.
I try not to freak out and walk back to the room. There is a note and a bag of mcdonalds with a coffee on my bed. The note says: Dear my babe, I am leaving this here because when I came in at first and saw all of the cafi-junk so I didn't want you to die from ickyness. I love you. Expect these small food and ... other ;) ... presents on your bed everyday. I love love love you! Bye.
I smile and look in the bag. It is a huge bag of nothing but fries. My favorite! and a coffee in a cup holder next to the bag YAY! The nurse walks in
"Are you Austin?"
"Yes why?"
"You are R's friend right?"
"Yes I am and you are freaking me out a little bit."
"I am sorry to inform you that... R's surgery she is going through at this moment, she might not make it through. If she does she wont be able to walk and can't do schooling for quite a long time. Does she have anyone she could live with until she is mostly healed?"
"She has me."
"Okay I will set that up. If you could follow me and fill out this informational sheet then that would help. Fill out this, this and this. Then there is another sheet behind this one. Please fill them out and bring them to me when you finish."
I sit down and fill out the forms. About a half hour later I am finished and turn in the forms. The nurse looks at the forms then looks at me.
"You have a very rare blood type. You might be able to help your friend."
"Really?! How?!"
"Please follow me and fill out this small form."
I grab the form and fill it out quickly. The nurse then takes the form and sits me down next to a machine.
"Are you okay giving a pint of blood for Ralin? It could help save her life. You have a very special type of blood."
"Yes of course! I want her to be okay"
"Okay. Then sit still. This will be quick."
I lean back and she cleans off a needle. She the attaches it to a pack and takes a pint of blood then labels it Ralin.
I get up and walk away. I walk into the room and see people rushing past towards the surgery room. I rush after them as well. They run into the room R is in and as the doors close I see her on a table blood everywhere. I see the computer. It has a long green line, a red line, and a blue line. All strait and a loud long beep. I fall to the floor in shock. Hoping it isn't what I think it is.
