I sat in a hospital bed, my arms were bound and Doctor Andrews was explaining the process of injecting me with the liquid that would change my life forever.
The serum contained DNA of multiple animals that would inevitably make me stronger, faster, stealthier, and deadly. It could even heighten all of my senses which enabled me to hear better, smell better and...to feel the earth around me, like how any other animal could sense a storm or a natural disaster.
"So what sort of animal DNA is in this thing" I asked Doctor Andrews as he secured my bonds. I had to be detained due to predictions that my body would reject the serum at first but then crave it like a drug.
"Uh, wolf, snake, some breeds of fish, chameleon, rhinoceros, leopard and bear" the doctor explained.
"What the hell, is that it" I scoff.
"The rest of it is confidential" the doctor announced. I rose my eyebrows.
There must be some serious shot in that thing then.
"All of the animals I just mentioned will each contribute to changing you, we even hope that the rhino genes will make your skin stronger" Andrews told me.
"This is crazy" I laughed.
"I can't believe it myself" Andrews said. He prepped the needle and I swallowed dryly. After a few more minutes of checking my vitals, he looked at me.
"You ready" he asked. I looked out he window of the room I was in, soldiers and doctors were lined up looking at me expectantly.
"Do it" I exhaled. I looked up at the white light above me, I thought about my Izzy, my friends, my mom and my dad. I felt the sting of the sharp needle and hissed at the implement as it entered my arm. I felt the serum run through my veins. The doctor removed the needle and I just sat still for a few seconds, before the pain came.
