Training

I grunt as Adrian throws me down onto the training mat. "Focus, Ashley, the sooner you are trained he sooner you can get out there and kick terrorist ass" he pressed. "I'm trying" I replied, getting to my feet and repositioning my body into the fighting stance that Adrian taught me. I was a quick learner and we had already been training for two hours now.

"Stop putting aggression into you attacks, feel your attacks don't think, you have the DNA of multiple predatory animals, survival is now you basic instinct and as your body gets used to the new DNA, your attacks will come naturally" Adrian explained. "Now fight!" He ordered. I exhaled sharply before moving in to attack the skilled solider.

I went to punch him but he blocked it, easily. I quickly round house kicked him in his side and he went staggering back. "Good, keep going" he praised and I lunged at him again. This time I caught him off guard and I kneed him in the stomach before twisting his body around and kicking his knees so he was kneeling on the floor. "That's great, now in this position you could break my neck, make sure you have your weak hand on top of the head and your strong are applying pressure on the jaw and then you twist and then your enemy is dead" Adrian taught me. I let him out of my grip and he stood back up.

"Now we have your fighting skills sorted now you need to learn how to use your abilities" Adrian told me.
"How the hell are we supposed to do that?" I frowned
"Well, our scientists have created a combat simulation environment that caters to your abilities, preparing you for the real thing, in there you will have to use your animal abilities in order to survive the artificial environment" Adrian explained. We began walking out of the training room and down the hall " So the simulation room is life like?" I ask.
"Yes, it will prepare you for different terrain you would have to go through and it will help you adapt to an animal environment but exploiting your animal abilities" he replied.

We made it to the end of the hall and walked down a set of stairs that had blue lighted railing and steps that illuminate the dark stairway. Double doors opened once we walked down the last few steps and I now found myself standing in a large room with computers and monitors set up along rectangular windows that lined the room. People were furiously typing on the touch screen monitors and machines hummed.

I stepped up to the windows and below was a large area split into four environments: jungle, desert, snow and rock land. "Ashley this is Ms Adams, she helped create the simulation room" Adrian said and I turned around to find a blonde hair and blue eyes woman looking at me. "Nice to finally meet you" she greeted and I shook her hand. "I take it Lieutenant Solomon has already debriefed you?" She asked and I nodded. "Good, one thing I have to add though is that within the four areas of the simulation there will be one predator that you will have to face, we also have a couple of our men in there too who will pose as an obstacle too so don't kill them please" Adams told me and I nodded, smiling at the woman.
"Your aim is to pass through each environment and obtain the flag that is locked in a master safe at the end of the environments" she continued.
"Wow, way to make it harder than it should already be" I scoff.
"You are to use your abilities to unlock the safe, it's up to you which one you choose and how you use it" Adams said, ignoring my comment.

"Oh and one more thing, all soldiers in there are armed but you won't be" she said. I laughed sarcastically "Ok then, this just made me 10x more nervous" I shook my head.
"Trust your instincts, Ashley and follow your gut because it's usually right, if you obtain the flag quickly enough you won't have to keep repeating the simulation" Adrian voiced.
"Ok so don't screw up, got it" I exhaled sharply.
"I'm ready".
