What is the difference between Persuasive, Informative, and Entertaining? The difference is pretty clear and I am sure some of you may know the differences between the two, but for the ones who don't, let me explain.
Persuasive text, it is when you are wanting to convince or have someone side with you or side on whatever your text wants to convey. When writing in nonfiction you could be writing persuasive text. An example of persuasive text in fiction is that if your characters are having a dispute about a plan they are working on, one character wants to go left while the other wants to go right, you need to have your reader want to go a certain way, you need to involve your reader to make them want what you want them to want. Does that make sense?
Informative means that you want to inform your readers on what the topic is. This whole guide is informative to help teach you and everyone else that feels the desire to know more be even closer to success. To be informative you'd need to explain things and at times the saying 'show, don't tell' can't alway apply, especially for this type of speech.
Lastly, entertaining is a way to play with your reader's emotions. The whole point is for the reader to enjoy what you are writing, not fall asleep. You have many genres to chose from too, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and more.
The types of speech there are is something you need to know. There is this PIE in everything, nonfiction, and fiction, and knowing the difference can help you understand writing better.
There is a link connected to this page, it is to help you know more about the subject that isn't just PIE, that there is more than just these.
