Chapter 16: Apologies take time

Continuing from last chapter: D.O.'s POV

I swept the piece of hair behind her ear.

Her face looked so pale.

"I went too far." I said as I took glance at her hands.

I walked over to the flower vase beside her and adjusted the white roses inside.

As I did, I thought to myself,

A rose with thorns. Too many thorns. So many, you can't see the beauty within.

I smelt the somewhat strong fragrance that escaped the petals.

"Min-ah!" I heard a voice at the back. I turned around. It was Chanyeol.

"How is she?" it worried me, the paleness on his face.

I didn't want to hurt his feelings. He was a good friend. But I guess I already had.

"She's fine. Just a little blackout."

"Thank god." He heaved a sigh of relief. Baekhyun arrived after him, a bag of medicine in his hand.

I walked out of the room. I needed some time to think.

I went to the kitchen and rested my arms across the counter.

I had a lot on my mind. I was still wondering who had called me just before she got hit. And what was I to remember?

Suddenly my phone rang again, from an unknown number.

I nervously picked up the call.

"Yobuseyo?"

There was a hearty laugh across the line.

"who are you?" I asked, clenching my fists."Nobody messes with me like that."

"Oh that's simple. You already know me."

"If you're man enough, face me yourself. Stop beating around the bush. Tuesday night at the abandoned bridge."

I heard a hearty laugh as I hung up.

Back to Min's POV

"Min-ah."

That voice, it comforted me. I had to concentrate hard on that voice. It was so faint, but i could hear it.

"Min-ah! gajima(don't leave)" i heard the voice say.

"I'm no-"

My eyes flung open, and my mouth was agape. It was all a dream. My head was hurting. I adjusted my seating position when I realised,

Where the heck was I?

I looked around when a strong smell made me turn. It was a vase of white roses.

This was getting stranger and stranger.

Those roses looked and smelled exacrly like those that were in the nurse's room left for me.

I was about to get up when I saw a head near my hand. I moved my hand, as the person got up.

"Min-ah! you're awake."

It was Chanyeol.

When he called my name, I felt a part of me hurt.

It made it harder and harder to figure out the voice in my dream.

"Stop. Don't." I said. "Don't call me that."

"What why?"

"PLEASE, just don't. What is this place, where am I?" I asked.
