Lucius POV

I waited for a moment for her to relax a little before starting the interview. I took a quick glance at her résumé, which wasn't that impressive. I can see that she never worked at a big company like Wayne Enterprise, but she did study a bit in business and computers which seems promising. I looked up at (y/n), she looked back at me with a soft smile and a slight sparkle of determination in her eyes.

'She could have potential, hopefully she is better than the others I had to interview.' I thought. The last girl ran out crying all because I made a comment about the way she was dressed, and don't me started on the others. I didn't feel as though any of the women I interviewed really had the right motivation I'm looking for in Bruce's personal assistant. I took a deep breath.

"I apologize for scene earlier. I hope it didn't frighten you. If you're ready, I would like to begin now?" I said.

"Y-yes, sir. But, may I ask you something first?" I can tell she was still slightly nervous, but more relaxed than earlier.

"You may."

"Why isn't Mr. Wayne doing the interview?"

'Out playing superhero in a bat costume.' I smiled at thought of telling her and her reaction to it, oh well.

"Mr. Wayne is at a business meeting right now. Now, here it says that you have never worked in a big company and that you only went to Gotham Community College. Is that correct?" I said looking back at the résumé.

"Yes, sir."

"Tell me what makes you believe your qualified to be Bruce Wayne's assistant?"

"Um. Well I studied business and computers..."

"Yes. Yes. I know, but what makes YOU believe your qualified to be Bruce Wayne's assistant? What makes you so special?" I looked back at her sternly, seeing confusion on her face when I questioned her.

I want to know if she can keep calm under pressure, after all bring Bruce Wayne's secretary won't be easy. Most importantly, I need to know if she can be trusted.

(Y/N) POV

I was speechless. I have never felt so intimidated before. He changed the atmosphere so quickly that it made me unsure of myself. I took a deep breath and thought about the question for a moment.

"I'm not, at least, I don't think I am very different from other women." I smiled peacefully, hoping that it would hide how nervous I'm feeling. "But, I am clever and ambitious. I know I can be trusted to complete any task that Mr. Wayne gives me, if given the chance."

A smile formed back on Mr. Fox's face. "Ha, that's the best answer I heard all day. So, do you have any work experience in an office?"

"Yes I've had a little experience working in an office. You see, my mom was a cop and sometimes I would help file cases, and organize papers."

"Your mom WAS a cop?" He asked with one eyebrow raised.

"Yeah, she died four months ago in a car accident."

"I'm very sorry for your loss, you must have had a close relationship with her."

"My mother and I..." I started to say, but then the thought of her death started to cause a lump in my throat preventing me from speaking. Tears started to blur my vision and my heart ached thinking about her again.

"I didn't mean to upset you, let's move on to a different topic." He said and handed me a white handkerchief.

I took the handkerchief from him and nodded a thank you.

"Would you like me to fetch you some water?"

I cleared my throat and said, "No thank you, I am good now, we can continue."

"Alrighty then. So tell me a little about yourself, like what are your favorite hobbies, favorite food, just things in general."

"Well. I like martial arts, cooking, and reading. My favorite food varies a bit, since I enjoy cooking, I like to mix things up a bit and so I can't really name just one dish. I believe in trying my best and never giving up. I'm outgoing and honest, and not afraid to standup for justice or what's right.

"Then that settles it, you got the position, and you start tomorrow at 8:00 am sharp." Mr. Fox said with a smile.

"Really!" I can't believe it. He just nods to confirm that this was really happening. That I am being hired to be the secretary of the Bruce Wayne, maybe things are looking up after all. I shake Mr. Fox's hand. "Thank you, Mr. Fox."

"No problem"

I get to the door of the office and I'm about to walk out.

"Oh and (Y/N), please call me Lucius."
