Batman watches as the ambulance took Commissioner Gordon and you to the hospital with two police escorts. He could feel his guilt welling up inside him. He should have known that Joker would have him under surveillance once he got out of Arkham. But he let his guard down when he saw you so vulnerable.
'Girlfriend.' That word kept ringing in his head. It filled him with a sense of dread. You were now in danger. If word gets out that you were remotely connected to him, all of his enemies would come after you. Not to mention, Joker has his sights set on you now and all because of a kiss.
'I am going to need to keep her close now. Looks like the board is going to get their wish.' Batman pinches the bridge of his nose and signs in annoyance.
He took in a deep breath and turned back to the task at hand. He looked around the ballroom and picked up pieces of the bomb from the rubble to analyze later. The police were still taking statements from the guess, so Batman has the crime scene to himself. He started searching the room for any signs of were Joker has been for the past three days. Unfortunately, there was nothing.
'He must be planning something. He would never be taken down so easily.' He needs to get ahead of Joker if he is ever going to protect you. As Batman continues clecking the pieces of the bomb, he notices the bomb was a simple, handmade design that anyone can make with household items. There was no complexity to the bomb, no signature, that the Joker usually uses in his bombs.
"I see you didn't need me." A familiar voice comes from behind him. Batman turns to see Robin leaning against a pillar with both his arms and legs cross. Robin's hood covers half of his face, but he can tell by his voice that he was pissed for missing the fight. He went back to looking around the ballroom.
"Did you catch the guy?" Robin questions.
"Yes," Batman said.
"Then why are you still investigating?" Robin asks with a slight annoyance in his voice.
"It's the Joker. He is planning something I just know it, and it might involve my new secretary."
"You think she might be working for him?"
"No. I think he is going to use her as a pawn somehow." Batman said. He continues walking around until hears something crack underneath his feet. When he looked down, he saw a pair of cheap, old glasses. They were all bent and shattered. He picks it up and starts to examine them.
'These look like (Y/n)'s.' He thought to himself as he touches the red fabric covers the wound on his arm.
"Father? Are you okay?" Robin asks as look that batman's shoulder. Batman notices the slight worry in his voice.
"I'm fine. It's nothing." He said as he put (Y/n)'s glasses in his utility belt. "Let's go. There is nothing left here to look at."
