Monophobia

Ezra's P.O.V

   "Why are we in a cave again?" I asked bored out of my mind. "The rebels gave us some supplies to help us since Lothal is infested with bucketheads," Kanan said. Hera and Sabine had flashlights to help all of us see so we wouldn't bump into any unwanted attention.

   "How far did they put these supplies?" Zeb grumbled. I couldn't blame him, we were sure to be lost right about now. "There!" Sabine said and pointed deeper into the cave. There were the crates, finally. "Sh!" Hera shushed strictly, "Sabine, you could cause a the rocks to fall if we aren't careful." Sabine nodded and we all went to get a crate.

   Zeb accidentally stepped on my foot and I might have yelled, "KARABAST!" I immediately covered my mouth as we listened to my voice echo through the cave. We all froze and waited to see what would happen. Then a couple of rocks crumbled in front of me. They suddenly were getting to be bigger as they fell from the ceiling.

   "Run!" Kanan yelled and we all ran for it. Except me, a rock fell on my leg and I couldn't move it. "Guys! Help!" I yelled but they didn't hear me. The rocks kept falling until they blocked my only exit. I coughed from the dust in the air. I looked up to see the wall of rocks. But there was a problem, I couldn't see anything, it was to dark. I'm all alone.

   I started to hyperventilate. I had a huge fear of being alone and being in this situation didn't help me stay calm. I developed this fear when I joined the crew. Monophobia and also the fear of abandonment. I was scared and lonely.

   "Ezra!" I heard someone say through my comm but I couldn't find it. "Ezra, do read me, Ezra!" I heard Hera's frantic voice. "Dang it! Where is that comm!" I whisper-yelled, smoothing the surface on the ground for my comm. It was no use. I curled up into a ball the best I could, feeling the cold in the cave.

   "Ezra," I heard Kanan through our connection. "Kanan? Help," was all I said. I started to tug at my hair and close my eyes. "You are not alone or abandoned," I kept telling myself on repeat. "Don't worry Ezra, we're coming," I heard Kanan say calmly. "Ok," I replied. "They are coming, relax, everything will be ok," I kept telling myself. It wasn't working when I felt my hand trembling.

   I took a deep breath in and out but that lead me to hyperventilate again. "It's so c-cold," I mumbled and laid my head on my knee. That's when the pain started to crawl through my leg. I bit my tongue so I wouldn't tell and felt something wet. Great, it's probably my blood.

   A minute later, I began to sneeze and shiver a lot more. I felt tears on the edge of my eyes. 'They left me,' I thought and hugged my leg, the only thing that could comfort me. It still didn't help though. Then a miracle happened.

   "Hang in there, Ezra," I heard Kanan say through the comm, "we are here." I looked up and saw some lights seeping through the rocks. They did come back! I heard Zeb's grunts and rocks fall. A whole started to form and more light came through. Once the whole was big enough, someone stepped in and looked around.

   "Ezra, where are you," I heard Kanan say. That must be him. "Over here," I said in a rasped voice. Kanan flashed the light in my direction and I covered my eyes from the blinding light. Kanan ran over to me and knelt down next to me. "Are you alright?" He asked. I shook my head no, "M-My foot is stuck," I said and he turned the light to the rock.

   I saw him close his eyes and use the force to lift the rock off my foot. "Kanan, did you find him?" I heard Zeb say. "Yeah, we're coming," Kanan replied then turned back to me, "Let's get you out of here." I nodded my head and knew that lifting me up meant my leg was going to hurt bad. Kanan began to carefully lift me up bridal style and I clenched my teeth in pain.

   "Sorry," Kanan grumbled. "It's o-ok," I said and got closer to him to get warm. I sneezed into my arm making Kanan worried. "Let's get out of here before your cold turns into the flu," he said. He walked back over to the hole and went through to meet the other faces of our crew members. "We need to get him back before he loses anymore blood," Hera said and we ran out of the cave and to the Ghost.

   I didn't know when or why but I subconsciously wrapped my arms around Kanan's neck. I would never in a million years admit this but it was good to have hug someone even for a split second. I let go and didn't look my master in the eyes cause I didn't want to see his reaction. I just listened to his heart beat and wrapped my arms back around me.

   We made it to the med-bay and Kanan laid me on the bed. I quickly grabbed his arm. He looked at me and I said shyly, "Thanks for coming back." He smiled and said, "You would do the same for me." I remembered the phrase from when I rescued him from the Empire which made me smile. "Ok Ezra, your leg isn't broken but you are still going to have to stay off of it," doctor Hera said.

   I nodded while Hera gently wrapped my foot up. Hera left me and Kanan all alone. We sat in awkward silence. My fear of loneliness was still there and I wanted to know that someone was there, not mentally, physically. I was going to ask for something but declined and looked somewhere else in the room. "What were you going to say?" Kanan asked.

   "Nothing," I said a little to fast. "Ezra?" Kanan warned, "what's on your mind?" "Nothing really, it's stupid," I said. "Well it doesn't seem stupid to you so it won't for me," he said, "Now what is it?" I nervously played rubbed my hands together and said, "Can I hold you hand?"

   Kanan was a bit shocked. "Never mind, it's really stupid-" I stopped when his fingers interlock with mine. "Is that better?" He asked smiling. I looked at him and smiled nodding. I laid my head down on the pillow and my eyes were getting heavy. "Will you be here when I wake up?" I asked. "I'll be the first thing you see," he said. I drifted off into sleep.
