It's January now since Minerva told her husband Albus of the great news and now they are both working on the baby's arrival in June.
Albus knowing that he was having a child bought the first cot for him/her and the furniture of what his wife wanted and what she wanted was the plain beech one with the lions carved around the corners of it. For the baby mobile it had everything to do with the wizarding world on and he also got the first teddy for his child. Which was in fact a dog that was grey with brown ears. Even the staff bought some outfits and some toys for the new arrival that is due.
Now the two of them had only a few things to do and that was paint the nursery but the two are having a disagreement over it.
Minerva wants red and gold for Gryffindor while Albus wanted it to be different with magical creatures and with green walls in which Minerva disagreed with because it was a Slytherin colour.
"Albus don't, don't you DARE use that green in my child's room!" Minerva said pointing her wand at her husbands chest. "I don't want my child to go into Slytherin while we were both Gryffindors."
"Watch that wand, Tabby. They'll take your lion credentials if you hurt me without being attacked especially when I'm the headmaster." Albus said and flicked his wand and sent green paint from the bucket neatly into the walls.
Minerva scowled and flicked her own wand, replacing it with red.
The fight was on.
Paint flew all over until they both lay, exhausted, on the floor of the nursery. Albus looked up at the walls and grinned crookedly. He rolled over to put his hand on Minerva's stomach.
"We'll have to scorgify the ceiling, you know. It looks ridiculous like that." He leaned over to speak to his unborn child. "It's alright, baby. When you're older you will love the colour green, you can forgive your mummy."
Minerva grinned and put her hand over his. "Don't worry, baby. Lions eat Phoenixes and you will love the colour red and gold." She sat up to kiss him. "We need to add the furniture."
"Well what happened in here then?" Poppy asked coming into the room and seeing red and green splattered on the walls with her two friends on the floor.
"Albus here wanted green and white to be on the walls. There Slytherin colours while I wanted red and gold for Gryffindor." Minerva explained getting up from the floor.
"Well I love the colour green Minerva." Albus told her relaxing for a change with his robes askewed.
"Why couldn't you two compromise. Red with magical creatures or have white with lions but on the other hand what would be good for the nursery is it having a Hogwarts mural on the walls and the four crests of it on another." Poppy said and flicked her wand to do so and in that instant Minerva and Albus were speechless.
"Wish we would of thought of that." Minerva and Albus both muttered.
"Well it is getting late and we should probably be headed to bed. I'll cyah in the morning at breakfast." Poppy said and she left for her quarters.
"She's good." Albus muttered.
"I agree on that...ouch." Minerva said and Albus panicked.
"Are you alright Minerva?" Albus asked while he held her steady.
"Feel here." Minerva said and took his hand and placed it on her stomach where there was movement from. "The babies first kick."
"Now that's my child. She'll definetely be strong one day." Albus said and the two then went to bed for the night because tomorrow they have to go to work and teach.
..................
It's nearly Valentine's Day in 3 days and Minerva is excited. Her baby comes in over four months.
"Okay class that's the end of today's session I expect you to read all about the vanishing charm and do a 3 foot essay on it." Minerva said to her fifth year Ravenclaw and Gryffindor class. It was the last lesson of the day and she couldn't wait to finally relax. The bell rang and the class went out and Minerva went to her desk and started doing the assignments that she needed to mark.
When it was an hour before dinner (7 o'clock just fake time) she got up from her desk but immedietley she felt a stabbing pain in her stomach and she gasped.
"Ouch wee little one. You'll hurt your mummy." Minerva muttered and then it was again. The pain increased until she felt something running down her leg. "Well this is embarrassing." She muttered but when she looked she was horrified to find out that her waters had broken. "Oh no..." Minerva muttered and then she sent a Patronus immediately to Poppy. Minerva eased herself in her chair and rubbed her stomach. She was in panic because if her waters have broken then that means that her child is coming early. Too early she should say.
About five minutes later Poppy came in and saw Minerva and she paled. "Alright Minerva, we need to get you to the hospital wing now. Your in labour." Poppy said and then she eased Minerva onto the conjured stretcher. When Poppy did this she immediately set of to the hospital wing. As she went though she ran into a panicked headmaster and when he saw his wife he followed Poppy without question but held his wife's hand.
"Don't worry, Minerva everything will be all right." Albus said reassuringly hoping everything will be. When they got in the hospital wing Poppy put Minerva on the bed and started putting up some equipment for a premature baby becuse she doubted that the lungs would have grown properly.
"Poppy, what are the chances of the baby surviving?" Albus asked and they both looked at her.
"Slim." Poppys only answer to that and she prepared everything for the baby to arrive and everything for a premature one that early at that. It was late at night since the contractions and now it was time to push.
"Okay Minerva, deep breaths and push." Poppy instructed and Minerva pushed with all her strength and Albus supported her through it.
"Come on Tabby, you can do it." Albus Whispered.
Minerva pushed for another hour until the baby came out but the thing is she wasn't crying or breathing.
"She isn't breathing." Poppy said and tried everything to get the child to breath. Minerva had tears in her eyes and Albus did while they watched Poppy who was trying to get the baby breathing. It's past 10 minutes and Poppy shook her head.
Minerva cried and held the fragile baby in her hands. She and Albus wished for a miracle.
"Please don't let this happen. Please!" Minerva muttered begging for a miracle to happen to their only child. Soon though something happened that was a miracle the baby started to cry small and breath.
"It's a miracle! Minerva, we need to get her supported. She is only just over four months." Poppy said and taking the baby out of her mothers hands and got to work helping the baby to make sure she lived. Poppy was very determined to not let this baby die on her. She wouldn't knowing what effect it would have on her two friends due to they wanted a child so badly.
After the baby girl was all hooked up Poppy sighed and looked at Minerva and Albus.
"How is she Poppy?" Minerva said worriedly from the bed.
"I don't know at the moment because she's in critical condition and her lungs haven't fully developed. She is premature but she still has the odds against her so only time will tell if she survives." Poppy said to them.
Minerva carefully got off the bed that she was in and then she conjured up a comfy chair next to the machine and stuck her hand in the hole and held her new baby's hand for the first time. You could literally fit her in one hand but she was a bit big for a four month development more like five months.
"Hello my wee lass. I'm your mummy. I know you will fight because me and your daddy are fighters and I know you'll survive this." Minerva whispered and the baby opened its eyes to reveal bright green like hers and she had oxygen to help her breath. Minerva smiled and Albus came over and sat next to his wife so he could be there for his new daughter and for his wife.
"Hello Sherbert. I'm your daddy. You are my fighter just like us." Albus said. He loved his daughter and hoped she will survive this. He looked at her and knew she would be a carbon copy of her mother in which she would grow up beautifully.
"Well, she was born on the 12th and she needs a name you two." Poppy told them and they smiled.
"Amy Minerva Mcgonagall Dumbledore." Albus said and Minerva smiled. She loved that name since they discussed some names while they have been on breaks and things.
"Who's the God parents may I ask?" Poppy asked
"Hmm...Filius, Ronolda, You Poppy and Pomona." Albus and Minerva said together
